Anniversary
This probably should have been posted under the thread "What do you cigar lovin' fools look like?" but, since it's an important landmark in my life, I sorta wanted it to stand apart.
My child bride and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last week. Our two sons hosted a very nice party for us and invited a lot of friends and close family. Here are a few photos:

Congrats man and I like your pick of smoke Gurkha Shaggy is one of my favs, it's rare in this day and age for people to be wed that long. My 2nd cousin's grandparents (no clue what they are to me) made it to their 50th about 15?-ish years ago. I hope everything is going swell for you and your beloved.0

Well, you're definitely not the oldest one here. I'll be 74 in November. But between my ears I'm only 39. I think if my grey matter ever catches up with my chronological age it'll be time to cash my chips in.

I've only been smoking cigars for the last couple years. I gave up cigarettes cold turkey in 1994 after having heart surgery. That's what made it so easy to go the cold turkey route. I evidently wasn't scared enough prior to the surgery.
And why, you ask, am I smoking cigars after having heart surgery? Well, I don't inhalke 'em and that improves my odds immensely.

Thanks for that. It occurs to me that probably a goodly number of physicians of all types enjoy an occasional cigar, although I doubt most of 'em would volunteer that info to a patient. As with everything, moderation is the key, I think.
I've mentioned on a previous thread somewhere along the way that I came across a study printed in the Oxford Journal of Medicine that shows the increased risk of heart disease to male cigar smokers based on how many cigars they smoke per day compared to men who have never smoked.
The categories of smokers were grouped like: 1 to 2 cigars/day, 3 to 4 cigars/day, etc. on upward. Since I fall into the lowest category (actually I average only about 1 every other day) it said that male smokers in that group had a 1.2% greater risk of heart disease than men who never smoked. And, to me, 1.2% is very minimal and certainly an acceptable risk IMO. I don't remember whether the report specified inhaling or non-inhaling but, to my way of thinking, if the smoke doesn't make it to your lungs, what can it hurt?
And, since most of the nicotine goes away during the curing process, it seems to me that inhaling is a waste of time - assuming one inhales in order to get the nicotine.
