Ci-Gel DECREASED humidity? Surely not!

I put a new Ci-Gel 2oz into my 7 drawer humidor when the hygrometer read 68%. I wake up to a 65% reading.

Any idea what the deal is?

Different products are created to different set points, and some will absorb humidity as well as release it. Check the container and see if its rated for 65% RH or 70% RH. Im guessing since you asked you were either trying to maintain the 68% you had or raise it, but I wouldnt sweat it too much - the majority of guys around here will tell you that 65% RH is right where you want it to be.

Thanks for the heads up. I generally prefer 72% or so, but my palate really isn't discerning enough to feel the difference yet.

65%-70% is definitely ok. You can run into burn issues if your RH is too high, especially on oily cigars. An overhumidified cigar can also become harsh.
