Great Concert

I just got home after attending one of the best concerts I have been to in a long time. I saw Stone Temple Pilots tonight with opener Cage The Elephant. Its great to see STP back together and as far as the live show goes all I have to say is Wow. They blew the doors off the place. They only played 4 songs from the new album and they played every old song I was hoping to hear. Anyone who is or was a fan of STP and has a chance to go see them on this tour I recommend going.

Saw them at KC Rockfest 2008 and they were awesome. Could have recorded a cd right on the spot. I am not thrilled with their new cd though. It doesn't suck but it is weird and I was hoping for a Core like album. Instead they let Wieland do another solo album. Listen to the new STP and listen to Happy in Galoshes and you will hear huge similarities.

That is what I was telling one of my friends that went to the show with me. The new album is growing on me but nothing like there old stuff. That is why I was so happy they didnt play much of the new stuff. But same thing with how they sounded they could have recorded it. Its just nice to see them while Wieland in clean.

Being a 1981 baby myself, I'm also a huge fan of the old STP. I haven't heard anything from their new album, but the concert sounds awesome.

That's a show I'd like to see, wonder if they'll be playing my area. Speaking of great concerts, I went an saw Rush last weekend and it was a fantastic show; among the diverse, and spectacular set, they played Moving Pictures in its entirety. 3 hours and they were on point the entire time, great live band.

It's too bad that they will never release another album like Core or Purple(12 gracious melodies) because those are really great albums. They evolved in a direction that I really thought was too artsy. There's nothing wrong with a good old kick ass rock tune.

Purple is my favorite. If you listen to Wieland's new album and listen to the new STP they are identical. While the music is ok and some of it is good it is such a dramatic change from their first album to now it isn't the same band. My wife heard the new cd and I told her it was STP and she wouldn't believe me. While I do like Wieland's solo album and the new STP cd is growing on me I just find it all weird. I like all sorts of music but I really wanted them to take it back to their beginnings.

I was reading a interview with them in the newspaper and they were saying that they are making 1 more album since they have the contract with there current label and then they are going to make albums and release them for free downloads. So I am looking forward to that. Hopefully the next one gets back to the old style.

i think I'm the only one that owns Weiland's first solo album, Six Bar Blues.

I don't own it but I do love Happy in Galoshes. The man is a brilliant musician.
