Speaking off snakes... what they lack in size, they make up for in quantity.

Did you see the report that China had a bunch of venomous snakes escape during a flood.

I don't have problems, just more work to do.

I decided to necro because I wanted to make sure not to shock and dismay any members who have a phobia of snakes, and went looking for a thread with snake in the title to accomplish this.

I used to take care of an eight foot Colombian red tailed boa constrictor banned Lucy for a friend after his roommate brought home some kittens. He had the snake in a gym bag at work temporarily. The snake had a huge plexiglass enclosure large enough for me to duck inside through the side door for cleaning.

I didn't realize how fast snakes can slither away before this.

When you hold a snake that large in your lap your lap gets cold. Snakes can be cold and hard to relate to but do need socialization and enrichment.

Greg took Lucy back after about a year and eventually moved back to an apartment in our college town near a creek. He let the snake roam free, and eventually Lucy escaped, never to be found again.

    Should've expected that.

I'm going to try and feed the rosy boa a previously frozen adult mouse today. It's getting bigger, I think they can handle it.

They like live mice, too. Just gotta bash its head a little so it doesn't bite the snake.

Rosie, the Rosy Boa ate her first adult mouse yesterday. Huzzah! We need to take her back upstairs and clean up the tank and probably give her a bath after she's had a bit of time to digest. We brought her downstairs to the kitchen because the friend that was taking care of the plants and pets while we were in Japan isn't good at climbing stairs.

Do NOT clean the cage with chlorine. Makes their scales fall off leaving raw meat exposed.

@Rdp77, perhaps if had kept eating the right color rats it would still be alive…

Either Rosy is much more active since we brough her down to the kitchen or we just notice it more. There's a lot more activity for her to notice down here instead of up in one of the empty bedrooms upstairs, empty except for all the stuff left behind by my son and all the stuff my Wife's been stuffing in that bedroom. The other "empty" bedroom is full of racks of shoes and clothes and you can't see the floor anymore. Anyway, we're thinking of moving the printers into my office which doesn't get much use anymore and moving Rosy there into the living room.

Being a Rosy Boa, it won't get too big.

Relocating Rosy to the living room next to the desktop gaming computer for more engagement.

Drying her off after her bath.
