Poker

Along with Cigar smoking poker is another thing I picked up earlier this year and it seems to be eating my money faster than filling my humidor...there sure is a big learning curve. Anyway I was wondering how many of you out there play poker too? Any great stories about huge wins or bad beats to share would be nice, and also what is your favorite victory cigar, and on the other hand what is your favorite cigar to sulk with

I love playing Texas Hold 'em. Once in a while some of the guys I work with will get together and have a friendly game ($40-$50 buy in) and just play poker and shoot the breeze, and that's always fun. I don't play in casinos though, because I can't stand "professional gamblers" and I prefer a game with people I know, so at least I know who's taking my money :).

I think some of my worst beats have been when I've gotten a full house on the flop and get trumped by a higher house, that kills me every time.

I absolutely love to play texas hold'em. I am playing right now online. I have been playing poker in general for about fifteen years and texas hold'em for about 6 years. There is no other game like hold'em. I have seen so many bad beats playing online. Most I've ever won was about $500 in a tournament. But the amount of money I've lost over the years is sick. I've probably lost a few thousand dollars over the past 4 years. I chalk it all up to some great experience and maybe one day I'll win a big one. Or not. Either way I've had a heck of a time playing poker online and with friends. My favorite victory cigar is strong, delicious and expensive. My favorite cigar to sulk with, regardless of brand and price, always tastes a litter bitter.

Hold 'em is a helluva game, I'm addicted to playing online, and its nice now that people play more seriously online. I remember a couple years ago playing online and half of the people playing were a bunch of jokers who had no clue what they were doing and I didn't find it very enjoyable at all. It doesn't take much skill to go All In before the flop and hope the cards work, but when I play against someone who can really slow-play a hand and not let on what they have, it gets me excited to see people using more skill than dumb luck.

I used to play on party poker, now I play on myspace... its ok, you guys can laugh at me for using myspace, I laugh at myself for it too.

I will probably check out some others though. Is Absolute poker pretty good?

I like it. I've played a few different sites and this is my favorite so far. If you are into playing free poker, check out NLOP (probably like nlop.com or something). They have a lot of games for like $100, $50, $25, $10, and there aren't a lot of people that play there. A lot of the big money games are pretty late in the evening. So if you are a night owl, like I used to be, it is pretty cool.
