you dont have to smoke cigarettes slow.
in fact, if you smoke a cigarette as slow as a cigar it would go out very fast.

i was comparing it to a cigarette because that is the size of it. I was trying to smoke it like i would a normal 5x50 stick, pausing for a minute or 2 between puffs and found that this cigar went out......like a cigarette. So i picked up the pace after a couple of relights, but was still drawing like a 5x50 and then learned that was killing the flavor. So i had to keep the current pace to keep it lit, but cut my draw strength way down.

sorry for the confusing post before.

to be honest, while the flavor was great, i would much rather smoke a 5x50 or bigger so i don't have to worry as much when i am smoking. the bigger ring gauges are a lot more forgiving.

I don't do cigarettes anymore thankfully, but I've never known them to go out until they hit the filter.

Must have been a while since you've smoked cigs. Things go out all the time now.

I am going to look that up as I am really curious about this. It's been only a few years since I smoked cigs and they didn't go out then. Perhaps they added/changed something for fire safety? The wrapper being paper, it would be difficult to have them auto extinguish....

Looked it up, really interesting! "As of January 1, 2010, the fire-safe cigarette law was in effect in 43 states". "Fire safe cigarettes (abbreviated "FSC": also known as Lower Ignition Propensity [LIP], Reduced Fire Risk [RFR], self-extinguishing, fire-safe or Reduced Ignition Propensity [RIP] cigarettes) are cigarettes that are designed to extinguish more quickly than standard cigarettes if ignored, with the intention of preventing accidental fires. In the United States, "FSC" above the barcode signifies that the cigarettes sold are Fire Standards Compliant (FSC).
"Fire safe cigarettes are produced by adding two bands of the FSC chemical to the cigarette paper during manufacture in order to slow the burn rate at the bands. Because this process decreases the burn rate and does not prevent unattended cigarettes from igniting nearby materials or tinder, the term "fire-safe" has been called a misnomer which could lead smokers to believe that these cigarettes are less likely to cause fires than standard cigarettes."
Not surprising, there are potential additional side affects to your health. As if smoking them wasn't enough of a heath risk!!! Glad I gave that habit up!

Took the day off today, so it would have just been wrong to not fit a cigar in this afternoon. Lately, it seems every time I dip into the humi, I grab something from my Secret Santa package. So once again, #44 comes from Bombay. This was my first La Palina (I think) and really enjoyed it despite the weather outside. Thankfully, I have a couple more that were gifted my way! Thanks again bro! IMAG0179

Lol, at a quick glance, I still see at least 2 cigars from you, an LP and a Padron. I do love them both....
