    I almost said this, but thought he was a publisher more than an editor. But it's been a long time, so I could have been remembering wrong.

    Well done, sir. The whole gender sterotype thing got me. That and I wasn't figuring on romcom.

    That's true but as with most movies of this nature, the dog is title character. Incorrect guess so far but please keep trying.

    The movie was remade about 30 years later. The boy in the original directed the remake and the father played the schoolteacher.
