This movie a drama was adapted from a fictitious novel. Although the film and characters are fictional the main character is based off a member of the writers family.
The movie is set in 1962 Beaufort South Carolina.
The main character is a Marine fighter pilot.

In in one part of the movie Red (David Keith) has trapped Toomer (Stan Shaw) in a bus with his dogs. Red starts to shoot the dogs but hits Toomer with one of his shots.
