First off, thanks to TODD @bandyt09 for the Memorial Day cigar.
Secondly, thank you to all who have served.
Thirdly, beware --- slight rant/ramble Ahead. If you just want to see pictures skip to the bottom.
After dealing with the whole stolen wallet fiasco Saturday late afternoon & Sunday and doing everything I could to prevent further damage .... Wife says to me "we've been go-go-go all weekend and there's no sense worrying about the stolen wallet anymore."
I figure you know what, she's right. Hopefully everything gets reimbursed/recouped but if not, expensive lesson learned but it is what it is. No use spending more time stressing/worrying/being pissed off/etc. I
had done everything I could to prevent further damage.
And I thought you know what, things could be a lot worse. If someone has to steal a wallet to make off with around $500, they got it a lot worse than me. Yeah it's an inconvenience and a hassle to have to get a new ID, bank account number, checks, credit
cards, etc....but what can you do.
Wife says "why don't we go sit out on the front porch, enjoy the beautful weather, and just relax. Go grab a cigar and a beer." Well, she didn't have to tell me twice.
It was Memorial Day after all, time to put my troubles aside and reflect on what this day really means.
(And I am not trying to say this day is not about cigars and beer -- because it's certainly not. But I consider sitting with a cigar and cold drink as my "quiet reflection" time. So I was able to just sit and let my mind go for a couple hours.)
Decided to reach into the uber-special "one-of-a-kind" section of my humidor, and pulled out an Oliva Serie O Classic Maduro (Blue Cloth Band).
Todd @bandyt09 graciously sent this cigar to me in March 2014, but from what I understand this cigar is about a decade old.
I don't personally know anyone who has given the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country, but I thought about everyone I know who has served or is currently serving in the armed forces .... including my brothers here on the forum.
I also thought about the heroes from the "greatest generation",
especially my grandpa who served in WWII, he passed back when I was in
high school.
Thank you to everyone who has served. And especially to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, may they rest in eternal peace.
Haven't had time for cigar for a good month, and yesterday had a Tattoo from Jim. Thanks buddy! It's great stick and personally thinking it's somewhat similar to MOW original, and better.
i couldn't wait! i had to try a namakubi that i just got destroyed with by @jimmyv723 . that thing was an amazing stick! started spicy as hell, but simmered down a bit to a super good sweet woodsy flavor. thanks again!
Glad you liked it bro, I need to fire one up soon.
Forgot about these, stumbled across 2 more (pretty sure they're the last ones I have) while digging through the humidor yesterday.
Cello is nice & yellow on 'em, they've been in the humi since 10/5/12, mmm my mouth is watering thinking about it.
