@Rdp77 , Reading the write-ups on the Palmetto, is it really similar to the Syrian Latakia? Or is that just hype? The Cyprian is good, I like it and have plenty, but the Syrian had a mystique of its own. Religious nuts and politicians just ruin everything, don't they?

Following Rusty's lead with a bowl of C&D Palmetto Balkan in my Townsman African meer. TYVM for the tobacco, @Rdp77 Rusty! It's a good blend.
I don't know if it captures the Syrian Latakia mystique or not, but it has a sort of softness and tastiness compared to some of the other Latakia blends I've had. BTW, Ernie at Watch City Cigar has been using a "tempered Latakia" in Blue Ridge Special and his English Ernie-ental blends since at least as far back as 2021, so C&D probably wasn't the first to come up with a proprietary process for Cypriot Latakia.

For me it kind of falls in between. I agree with what Chris said about a certain “softness” and it definitely has a flavor different from most Latakia I’ve had. I really enjoy it. It approaches the flavor of KBV plague bringer which does have Syrian Latakia.
I'm going to have to check that out when I get a chance. Thanks Edward.
I went into the office today and I brought my Chacom Club second pipe which still had the remains of the 1792 flake from Sunday's road trip. I brewed a fresh batch of coffee in my french press travel mug at work and jumped in the car and enjoyed some great tobacco and coffee to help me through the afternoon slump on my way back home.

Now smoking Sutliff Anomalous crumble flake featuring periqued Katerini oriental leaf blended by Per George Jensen, in a Norm Triptow pipe. This is my first time trying this limited edition blend and I'm finding it hard to pin down flavor notes.
I agree with the Jiminks review on Tobacco Reviews, it has nice plummy and floral notes due to the fermented oriental leaf.

Yeah, I heard that they came across a small lot of really interesting Katerini leaf which was enjoyed and discussed at a pipe show and they decided to feature a perique version for this blend.

Had some of the same ^^ in the dunhill pickaxe this morning. Good stuff. Almost indistinguishable from Capstan. I wonder if they're actually the same thing under different labels?

I’m going to have to open it up soon I guess. I didn’t realize it was fermented the same way they do a lot of perique. Sounds interesting.
