    It's true, you don't hold it by the bowl. It doesn't impart flavor to the tobacco, gives you a good taste. This one needs a long pipe cleaner because of the long stem.

    Your right, the few I saw were 249.00-600.00. when I enquired, hand made, one of a kind , made by blah blah

    My tiny clay sample pipe was $10 and this bigger one with a stem was $44.

    Here's a picture of my carburetor pipe topper that came from a coffee tool. I use this to control the airflow to keep the tobacco smoldering for best flavor without going out all the time by lifting up one side to let air in. A thumb works too.

    Rubbed out Anomalous crumble flake for another smoke in the morta. This pipe smokes pretty dry.
