I'm loving the DFK but wanted a touch of vanilla with it the other day. ODF and 1792 are great by themselves but I was hoping the 1792 wouldn't over power. Then I doubled the recipe.
Pipe is Stanwell, Royal Danish, shape 118. I didn't really care for this Father Dempsey when I first opened it a couple years ago, but now I'm enjoying it greatly. Funny how that works.

Do you think it’s because the time allowed the flavors to meld together better or that your tastes have changed?
Really, more the time I think. I can't rule out changing tastes, but I think the "melding" of flavors, as well as just the mellowing of time are probably the greatest factors.
Additional comment, it seems sweeter, now. Perhaps over time the carbohydrates in the plant material change from more starch into more sugar? Just a thought.

Yeah, as tobaccos break down more sugars become present. Same as the maduro process for cigars.
^^ I like that pipe, but I could never own it. I'd feel compelled to finish it, and would most likely screw it up in the process.

I've smoked some of these now. The Eastfarthing is nearly identical to a mixture I toss together from blending tobaccos from time to time, the Taste of Summer reminds me somewhat of Ashton's Guilty Pleasure. I doubt I'll buy it again, the Guilty Pleasure will fill that space better, but I don't regret trying it and will surely finish it, in time.
The Crumble Cake English #1 is awesome. Alexander's bridge is not what I expected, I guess I expected something more Balkan, but it's a nice Cavendish, and sometimes I go for that.
I haven't had the VaPer yet, but will shortly. If it's as good as it seems to be, that's awesome. Also have not yet tried the Cringle Cake, but have high expectations.
I haven't had much Sutlliff for quite some time. I used to buy one of their Balkan mixtures regularly, but they discontinued it. Back when I smoked it there was still such a thing as Syrian Latakia. Maybe that's why they dropped it? I dunno.
