I can't remember if it was Roy Rogers, but I had the belt buckle with the hidden Derringer when I was 7. Also, the hat, holsters, a tomahawk, head-dress, Bowie Knife, spurs, and a pocket knife. I guess today I'd be waiting until I'm the age I am now to get out of the slammer.

Just my personal definition, but, to me an assault weapon is one that's pointed at me! How many rounds it holds doesn't mean much after the first one, which is why in just about every country where incremental gun laws are allowed to pass, eventually you end up with none.

I can't even turn on non premium network tv without hearing about all this gun BS. my god, so finally it takes a bunch of kids getting shot all at once by a nut to make it a "big" issue. It's like what the hell, it's not like it's the first time a bunch of people or kids have been shot. Hell go to to the ghetto..... Oh yeah it doesn't matter there.

I'm not lover of guns, nor do I think that all this anti or pro hype is worth the time that has been put into it. However I will say this:

If you live in a state where you can get medical weed than you know that it is so highly watched it isn't even funny. I mean when was the last time some one came home high and beat their wife or kids or dog? When was the last time someone got high and shot up their neighborhood? It doesn't happen. But alchol is legal and really there is not measure of control on it other than if you have an ID. But it does cause the death of thousands of people every year whether they are using it or not. But guns... Guns. It's like it's taboo saying guns and regulations. Makes no sense. Now do I think that some guns should be banned? Well maybe but an ar-15? I mean sure i guess a full auto but a semi? Oh a 30 round clip? Well I can cycle a weapon really fast so a 10 round clip will do just as much damage as a 30 however only if one is trained. Basically what I don't get is on the left people are screaming how guns are evil and on the right people are screaming guns are godly. Now why can't all this BS stop and we as a country actually try to fix this. Start by making it mandatory for background checks on weapons sold. SIMPLE. Now perhaps for anything that is not used for hunting maybe a fee or a license sort of like a drivers license. I dunno but really I wish everyone would move on. Maybe the news should really focus on how these morons are getting these weapons. I mean seems to me that alot of these high profile mass shootings are not the owners of the weapons but that someone who did not buy them took them. So maybe we should just say this... limiting the types of guns won't do ***.

Agree on pretty much everything; it's not the gun, it's the nut behind the gun. Just about all these shootings have one thing in common: a mentally unstable person who stole their guns, but there's almost no outcry to re-evaluate our mental health sytem

Only thing I'd add is that full auto's are already banned; the only ones you can buy are the ones imported before 1986, IIRC, and they run about $10,000-$50,000 and require some major paperwork to boot

In oregon you can pay a higher fee for a license to carry full auto. So it's not so much about not wanting people to have them, they just want their cut. I swear this country has become the MOB except it's all legal.

LOL, I hear that. I love listening to stories from my grandparents about the Great Depression, how they'd bootleg and bet on the mob-run lottery, until the State moved in, outlawed it as "immoral", then proceeded to set up the exact same thing

Well, just turn off the TV. Drink more bourbon, enjoy better cigars, catch more fish, read more novels, catch more rays, take more walks, breathe a lot deeper, sleep longer hours, ... don't worry, be happy. Life is short.

Cigars, reading, and sunshine all fit well. But it is ridiculous when I cannot even read the Drudge report without being inundated with the nonsense about guns at the behest of the Govt. BTW, my happiness is not dependant on politicians, guns or earthly pleasures and I have a plan to live forever, so far, so good! LOL

I believe the ATF should simply confiscate those dreadful assault weapons from criminals and sell them to Mexican drug cartels. That ought to do it.

.... o. wait. the present administration already did that.

O, I know I know I know ... they ought to confiscate assault weapons from law abiding citizens.

Brilliant. That ought to do it.

Hmmm. Those folks that want to make guns illegal? When they do they WILL come grab the gun. Exactly what do you think registration is about?

Devil's Advocate, I have to register my car. Is there a car grabber crowd? Just because there is the possibility of a slippery slope, doesn't mean anyone is planning to jump off it.

I don't understand why it is such a big deal with gun registration. I mean one needs a license to drive. One needs to register to vote, one needs to register for college. One needs to register with the post office to receive mail. How is a gun different? If it's because of the govt knowing what you own ... I mean almost all of us are already been compromised. There is no freedom of privacy anymore unless one lives off the grid.

Besides, the Supreme Court Justices have, with their written opinions, already spoken to the "well regulated" language in the 2nd Amendment. I want to see reasonable legislation regarding the use of firearms in a civil society to be passed and then challenged in the courts. Then the NRA can start calling the Supreme Court "the gun grabber crowd".

Actually the title of this post is How the gun grabber crown will never win. You have made it about a non existent crowd. Now I will not say I completely disagree with you the one thing I will say is I think you will def be disappointed when gun laws are changed because there will not be a lot changed. If you look at NY which are and will remain the strictist in the country, assault weapons will not be banned they may stop people from buying new ones but will not make current ones illegal and since thousands have been purchased in the last month or so not alot will be done. Oh yeah and maybe magazines will be limited to 10 rounds. The craziest thing about NY is mags are limited to 7 rounds but if you own 10 you can keep them but you can only load 7. So people about to commit a felony will def follow that.
