Was the offending member contacted to let them know? I am not tech savvy, but I don't think I've done that. Usually pms I go to my inbox and new message. Is that the correct way?
Your way is correct and, is the safest method. You can also send PM by clicking on the other member's profile but, at that point you see their public "wall" and it looks very much like an inbox and that may seem like a good place to start your PM. There's even a button that says "Add Comment"  but, you gotta make sure you click on "message" instead so you're sure you are sending PM (PRIVATE message) rather than posting to their wall, which is public.

If you have sent any messages to a particular member that were intended to be private and you wish them to be deleted, the member to whom you sent these errant messages can easily delete them from their own wall.

A good rule of thumb for all social media is that almost all "messages" are private. Anything else - "comment", "post", "status", etc. - is intended to be public.

I think I need to  Back-Thread-Jack this thread.

    Don't, don't and don't,....... post addys.

And, I'm not talking about posting your own dumb addy by your own dumb mistake in some dumb PM attempt. I'm talking about someone posting someone else's addy on purpose, in a thread, as a joke, in order to throw them under the bus. Don't do that.

Thanks for bumping this one, im sure some don't read the non cigar related thread.  I do agree here please make sure what your sending is a PM, not a wall post.  It has been stated, but yes everything posted to a wall is 100% visible to anyone and everyone.

I think Bob is referencing Phil here ;)
