It would be my xikar escalade, but I am still waiting to get it back after it broke.

Love the burner for a table top. I always take my Bugatti B-1 with me when I smoke. Great for touch ups and two built in punches.
The Bugatti B-1 is what I've used for quite some time. Very dependable..

My recently acquired, early 70's Dupont.  It's a thing of beauty.  Followed by my IMC Old Boy and closely behind that, my old Zippo with the flint/soft flame Vector insert.

only lighter ive ever owned is the Bugatti double flame. I really like how it looks, and it converges the flames into one bigger flame. never had a problem with it, and I absolutely love how you can take out the inside part and see exactly how much fluid you have in it. cant say the same for a lot of other lighters.

Yo, DZR, I know you like the Ronson lighter and I assume you're talking about the JetLite model.

If so, have you done the mod on it?  And if you have, how's it working post-mod?  Is it worth doing??

That wasn't me in that video. My film credits don't include instructables on fixing lighters....

I went to Wally World today to buy a Ronson Jetlite or three and, imagine my surprise, there wasn't a single one to be had. There was Zippo everywhere you looked but no Ronson stuff.

I guess it's back to good ol' eBay if I really want a Jetlite. Shucks......    B)

    Hey jlmarta,

Did you go through the line by the smokes? That is where I have found them. You probably checked there already but I figured I'd ask

Actually, I checked out about a dozen check stands which is where they have lighters and related stuff but I didn't see any smokes. I think it has to do with California law. There were zippo lighters galore but no Ronsons. I'm sure they'd be in the same place if they carried them.

Yep, prolly due to it being Cali.

I took mine apart to do the mod and buggered it somehow (whoops!). Ran to Mal-Wart and got two more--modded them successfully

I have one of these lighters from years ago. Often while I am waiting  in line at wally world  I notice the lighters. Haven't seen the jetlite in a long  long time. I'm in TN

Your post prompted me to go back and have another look at the web page for our local Walmart. Then I looked closer to the fine print.

I like the diff! Just be careful when getting the brass tab thingy off to free the adjustment screw. I ham fisted the first one and busted it that way (wouldn't light afterwards). the next two mods were painless.

The mod is quick and made holding the button down easier

Here's to seeing how long it'll last over refills!

According to Walmart online, All my local stores say they have them. Maybe they keep them at the tobacco isle like somebody mentioned earlier. Otherwise I haven't seen them at the regular checkout isles. I'll keep trying. I want to try the hacks in the video. For the money, these can't be beat. And there's a guarantee from the manufacturer too. :)

Yeah, California's a little different regarding tobacco sales - there really isn't a tobacco aisle. Cigarettes and other tobacco products are generally kept locked up and a clerk has to get your item for you.

But regarding the lighters, the walmart in Yuba City, CA doesn't carry the Jetlite but the walmart in Marysville, right across the river, may. I haven't been able to get a straight answer from them yet and it isn't worth my time to drive over there just to find out.....

My last post may have led you to think that TN walmarts have the tobacco isle is right next to the snack isle. I should have said the tobacco "checkout isle". It's the same setup here as everywhere I suppose.  If it's made with tobacco you can't handle the merchandise before purchase. The clerk at the checkout has to get it for us too. I never buy tobacco at walmart but, it seems like there's just one checkout isle that handles tobacco sales.
  • jlmartajlmarta Posts: 7,881 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hmmmm. I don't buy tobacco there, either. I guess I'll have another look at the setup. I haven't paid any attention in the past. Thanks......

Well, I made a trip across the river so while I was there I thought I'd check out the walmart store. The short answer is that, yes, they carry them. But only one style. I bought a couple.

They seem to work fine but they're kinda small for my hand. Awkward to hold onto. Maybe they'll be better after the mod when I've removed that spring. Maybe then they'll be easier to hang onto.

    Hey jlmarta,

    Yep, they sure are small!

For my next purchase I am prolly going to go the other end of the spectrum. I have my beady eye on this one:

    http://www.cigar.com/lighters/92625/xikar-turrim-lighter/

Just gotta figure out how to position this one to the better half, lol
