For whatever reason, i thought about one of my celebrity encounters tonight. It was totally random and I think that's what made it memorable so I figured I'd share it with you.
Late one night during undergrad at UW Madison, I'm walking down State Street to get some late night eats. In the distance I see an imposing figure and, for whatever reason, I cannot look away. He seems familiar. He was wearing heather grey sweatpants with a corduroy jacket complete with elbow patches, huge reddish mutton chops, thick black frame glasses and a side-part. We lock eyes for several steps. I spotted him more than a block away and couldn't stop staring. The whole time I'm wondering why this guy looks familiar. I could not place him. Suddenly he points right at me and shouts, "You! Shut the fvck up!"
Once I heard his voice the recognition was immediate. "Hey Chris! What's up!"
An awkward chuckle and the wave of a hand. "How ya doin."
And that's my Chris Farley story. He once told me to shut the fvck up. Who knew he would have so much in common with my wife! Anyone else have any random celebrity encounters worth sharing?

I got to rub elbows with a number of the actors and actresses such as Jonathon Winters, Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint, Ben Blue, etc. I even got to play Scrabble with Brian Keith, Jonathon Winters, and Ben Blue between takes. It was a fun time in my life and I thought I wanted to be an actor. But after being around those folks for the length of time it took to shoot the movie I changed my mind. I decided I wanted no part of their lifestyle. It was an interesting experience, though, and I'm glad I did it.
Thats awesome! I always wanted to get into acting, but music took center stage
Yeah. If you get a chance to rent the movie, my little 'bit' part has me with the .50 cal machine gun up on the conning tower of the submarine. I'm also part of the human pyramid that forms to rescue the kid. Whoop-dee-doo, huh?? ??
Most folks dream of getting to be in a movie, you get to say you have, nice!

Over the years I've gotten to meet quite a few celebrities in the automotive industry at SEMA/AAPEX conventions in Las Vegas, because I was pretty involved in the automotive aftermarket diagnostics.
Mario Andretti, Kenny Berenstein, mostly NHRA names. Got to meet Rick Dale, from Rick's Restoration, a couple years ago in Las Vegas. Years back got to meet Boyd Coddington and Chip Foose.
I miss going to the SEMA convention.
Money can't buy happiness, but it can buy cigars and that's close enough.
Goonies used my gas station as a staging area for the chase scene. Mostly to use the parking lot and restrooms.
The log truck shown on Kindergarten Cop when they stop at the store is one that I built. The logging company I worked for supplied all of the log trucks for the movie. Mostly, the trucks sat all day, but the were paying for it.
They have Goonies celebrations here all the time.

My wife is the one with the cool stories though, I think; she worked at a 5 star hotel when I first met her, and in the process had met Charlize Theron (VERY interesting story there), Anna Faris (very petite), Ben Kingsley ("such a nice guy, I really liked that guy"), and Sacha Baron Cohen.
