Hmm, thought I replied and voted in this column, maybe not? Testing now, did I find the signature line or not? let's see

i miss my signature line. ill have to find all those links again. other than that i dont have a problem with the update. no more code is ok. i was good with the old way. there will be a bit to get used to. glad all the old posts were saved.
Yeah, but you won't need the links if they sticky all those threads...
I don't even know what he just said. "Sticky"? "Links"? Please speak English if you want us oldfarts to understand what you're talking about. How do links apply to stickies?? Thanks...
Sticky refers to the threads that get locked at the top of the list in a subforum. They are "stuck" there and so he won't need his signature which used to serve as a grouping of links to threads we all recognize as important.
'Sticky' I recognize. But how or why would there be links to a sticky?? Makes no sense

Thanks for translating for me.
Kuzi wants his signature back, which had links to several important discussion threads. In the old forum that was useful because he could reply to a question about understanding flavors in cigars by saying, "look at the developing your palate link in my signature."
However, with the new forum, those threads can be made a permanent fixture at the top of the list of discussion threads under each section. It's a common practice on forums to have these sticky threads as a resource to new members. They act as a sort of FAQ (frequently asked questions) so the board doesn't get inundated with the same questions over and over again.
So what I was trying to say, was that Kuzi wouldn't need the links to those particular discussions in his signature anymore because the new forum allows those important discussion threads to be permanently affixed or "sticky" at the top of the category of discussions under which they fall.
Whew. That was a lot of typing for a non-review post.

I like Oliva and Quesada (including Regius) a lot. I will smoke anything, though.

i now have my links page in the signature line... but a few of those links dont work because some of the threads have a different format in the code than others.
this brings me to the flaw... I cant edit the links in. posts now have a time limit on when they can be edited. so i cant fix the links in my links page so they will work. this also means that i cant edit in updated content to some of those threads (like i have done periodically in the past) so they are the first page up top in the main content. this makes it a hunt through threads that are potentially a few hundred posts long to find any updates to an article posted on the forum.
i guess we all have to complain about something... overall i like the forum update. it did what i wanted out of an update. it saved all the old content. there is some good stuff here and losing it would have been a mild disaster.
Guess I'm one of the odd men out...I for one don't like the new forum layout. Guess I just can't stand change....but seriously...one thing I can't stand is that I have to scroll all the way down to bottom of the thread before I can post something. Before, I could get reply to any post and add my .02. Oh well...at least post counts are still there. lol.
I gotta agree with you there, it's a PIA not having the "reply button" on each post, and instead having to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to reply......
Others have complained about this as well, but no fixes in sight. It's especially terrible when posting from a phone, because the text boxes get shrunk and resized horizontally so it feels like you're scrolling forever just to find the reply box.

Agree! And where's the color? Before it seemed open now it feels claustrophobic

For example, the "(almost) all inclusive guide to cigar etiquette, kuzi style" now remains at the top of the "General Discussion" section as an "Announcement" thread.
