winter for me = smoking in the basement

with the new propane heater that i got for christmas that kept me pretty darn warm, but still when it is below 25 that is inside.

I have a small exhaust fan I installed through the wall when finishing the basement.  Keep the ashtray near it while smoking and take the ashtray outside when done.  No odor at all.  I get more cigar odor when I smoke outside.

As much as I like smoking outside, when the temps are right and the wind's from the west, I'd rather be sitting in my living room recliner with some classical music on the turntable, surrounded by my morning devotionals.  Time to make a second cup of coffee...

When you guys use an exhaust fan, do you draw outside cold/hot air into the house through a cracked window or other "intake" in the other end of the house? Or, is that not a concern?

An exhaust fan will always work better if there's an easy intake into where you smoke.  That's my only real concern, sucking heat out of the house in the winter along with the smoke.  So if I don't add extra heat to my smoking area (an added expense) it gets chilly.

I don't open anything when I use the fan.  I suppose it would work better if you were trying to clear an entire room.  I keep the ashtray very close to the fan so everything gets sucked right outside.

There is one place and one place only I am allowed to smoke a Cigar inside. That is at the family Lake House where the entire front of the house is Glass Sliders and they can be opened up. The cigars always seem better there for some reason. :)

That sounds great.  If I could have any smoking room, I'd love for part to be big glass doors like that to let a breeze in... of course on a mountain or a lake.

I want to smoke inside, in my personal cigar lounge.  Have a freakin large house and cannot get the wife to let me carve out a space to make one.  UGH!!!!!!!!

Life is too short to smoke bad cigars!!!

I love the shade surrounding the house. Must keep it nice and cool. The water looks very clear too.

Looks absolutely idyllic. The only change I'd make would be to put a cover over that deck so I could smoke in the rain or snow.....  B)

Funny.  That was rebuilt by my Father and I about 18 years ago. The old Cottage had an overhang over the deck so you could be out in the rain. We don't use it in the Winter. It's actually on an Island. I don't have a snow mobile to get out there in the Winter. I do miss that (overhang) though.

It's full sun all day so, it can get warm and yes. The water is Gin Clear. We're very lucky to have this place. My Grandfather was a very smart man to pick this place up in the 60's.

Those are beautiful pics. You need some company there?

I guess I've been lucky that my wife loves the smell of everything I smoke. If I sit outside to smoke, she keeps the door open so she can smell it. It's nice to just lounge on the couch and watch the inversion layer form.

It's also never taken more than a quick blast of febreeze to remove any lingering odors.

i haven't had to all year until now.  it's been several days of sub 30 degree weather and no way i can smoke outside right now.  This week i'll be sparking at least one maybe two up in the house.

Last night on the vherf I was comfortable in my den with the window fan pulling the air out but it was also -8 with wind chills down to -25.  If it was not for my wife letting me inside I would not be smoking right now.  It is just way too brutal.

I hear you!  The screened-in porch with a decent space heater and 2 coats is not enough to keep the chill away...

I have my garage at work! Comfy chair, heat supplied by some 50 hp ammonia compressors. Not much for entertainment except I phone and cigars. Life is good!
