Faye asked me once "Why do those guys do that? You never do". I told her that once upon a time when carbureted bikes were cold, or had faulty floats or float valves, and the engine was cold, it was a way of helping to ensure that your bike didn't stall when you left the stop sign. In todays world it makes no sense at all.
