I've had my feeders out for a week. Haven't seen any birds up on the mountain yet.

This last winter it was so cold that it prevented me from working in my studio. Most days inside it was in the mid 40's. Ten ft ceilings and 5 36 by 60 inch windows and 36' by 36' footprint make it hard to heat even with a ceiling hung propane heater and a wood stove. The roof is galvanize metal and after 35 years is leaking and the flying squirrels have torn up the insulation on the second floor.
I am going to start the winterization with a new roof. Had a guy come by and look at it today and another roofer is going to come by tomorrow. I built my studio by cutting the trees, hauling the logs to a old time sawmill and working at the sawmill while the logs were cut into 2x6's and 2x8's to frame the walls and roof. I did most all the work my self including nailing all the metal on the roof, wiring and plumbing. Getting to old to do that kind of work these days although when the new roof is on I will climb up my extension ladder, haul up a press of Peter's finest and sit and burn one to celebrate.0
