I’ve had a similar experience with the Nasonex spray. I could not even smoke a cigar...they all tasted bad to me. Luckily I figured out the problem pretty quickly and tossed the Nasonex before tossing many cigars.
On another note...from my experience, the MOW Puro Authentico’s do lose a lot of their peppery “bite” over time. I have some from 2012 that for a short period at 2-3 years old tasted bad (IMO), but now they taste great...just less of that peppery bite that we love about them.
