That's purdy. How'd you shine it up? My mom has an old shell casing ashtray with some cutouts for the cigar rests that are missing the bent pennies.

A buffing wheel with some compound. I bought a small one for the drill to do the inside

And what are you going to use it for, Sherm? Isn't a 50cal shell only 1/2" wide?

This is 4 inches wide and apparently was used to fire a 3" diameter projectile from navy ships. In artillery terms, the 50 cal refers to the barrel length (I could not imagine that base firing a 50 caliber tip so I had to look it up)

I'd buy one, but I wouldn't use it... too nice.

Be interesting to see what he thinks it is worth, I'm guessing $75.

Hmm, it's awesome, very intense. I wouldn't pay more than $50, so it will probably sell for $100*. Bye-bye Benjamin.

there is a certain cachet to 'crystal'. Sparkly, high refractive index, but ultimately it is just glass with the zinc or barium oxides substituted for the lead that formerly was used. The ash tray probably shouldn't cost more than $30.

^^^ number made would factor into that, and what it'll take to put their trademark 'green-dollar-bill-looking-thing' on the bottom.

It's just an ash tray. Whatever they charge will be too much.

It'll be a sticker backwards that's they'll affix to the bottom of the glass, I'm sure.

His cigar prices for what he puts out are way better than many other companies, however this being what it is I would guess it will not be less than 75.00.
