What's wrong with this message?

Looking at the recent news items regarding the vandalism of Confederate monuments across the South.  "They send the wrong message" is the mantra.

I have to wonder if the people behind this know the message?

So, here it is, from the man himself:

What's wrong with it?

I am no wordsmith, but the use of the semicolons seem wrong.  :s

Its sad to have monuments torn down like that. Sure it was during a hard time in our countries history... but it was a massive growth point for the US. We learn and grow daily but we don't discard the memories of what got us to this point. .... I hope that makes sense.

    Harcourt & Brace 11th edition, section 14a, p146:

"Use the semicolon between two main clauses not linked by a coordinating conjunction.

The coordinating conjunctions are and, but, for, or, nor, so, yet."

    Seems right.

Hmm, I count three clauses, though.

Let us not forget that there are more slave's today than there ever was in America. The word slave comes from the old word slav's who were white people taken hostage by muslim invaders.

And the new haters do not have a clue about our history. They get it all they know from the movies and the news media. And let us not forget the indoctrination centers.

Yep.  Revisionist history is just another form of demagoguery.  I suggest any who've skimmed this thread go back to the top and read Jefferson Davis' words again.

    What is said?

The message is simple.  Acknowledgement, Acceptance, Hope.

Why are they killing that message?

To instill hate in a new generation.

    That's brilliant.

    And Penelope is hot.
