They never learn.

We pay for our kid's cell phones on our plan, even though they are old enough to pay for their own stuff. Why? I don't know. I suppose, cause it makes momma happy.

So I've refused to pay for the unlimited data plan, cause momma rarely uses it and I don't go through a lot of data and I just didn't want to pay the extra money.

The last couple months, the oldest has been taking the data right to the limit and I've warned him that it's for all of us, not just him.

Last month, I had enough and toward the end of the third week of the plan month, I non-stop streamed directv every chance I could get.
4 days before the end of the data cycle, momma shut data off for everyone, as I stood there and smiled. She said I was enjoying it too much.

My oldest called me and gave me the "What the hell? Who used all the data?"
I did. Sorry. Oh wait, not sorry.

Then the, "What am I supposed to do now?"
Uhm... It's still a phone and you still have text.

He was pissed! And it felt so good.

@0patience, They should be thanking you for paying for that data for them to use. If it were me I'd tell them to start giving me some cash every month and quit whining.
If you quote me do the @TX98Z28 in your text or I won't be notified of your quote, Thanks.

@0patience LOL, oh my, that sounds like something I would do. Sometimes to teach the important lessons, you have to do it the hard way for them to learn.

We charge rent, they pay more if they're not carrying a full load at school.

    I like it!!

Gonna have to see about implementing that in our house.
The oldest is actually out and has a job, but it isn't much of one.
He is a parts specialist at one of the local auto parts and while it is something, it's not 40 hours a week and he won't be at full wages until he has 6 months in and gets his parts specialist certifications.

He is doing well there, so there is that.
And I'm one of their larger accounts, so he can't wait on me,

We also have a locking security screen door they don't have the key to. It gets locked after curfew.

When I was 17 I asked my dad if I could borrow $20.00 for gas until payday.  He asked me what I did this pay period that I had not all the previous ones.  I don't remember what exactly it was but I think I went to a movie with some friends.  My fathers responce was, next time budget better, don't go to movie when you know you will need gas.  I asked again for the $20.00, he said no, I just told to budget better, have one of friends drive you around until payday.  Lesson learned!  Also at this time, I bought my own car, paid for my own insurance, my cellphone was in my name and paid for by me, and of course I paid for my own gas.  I did not however have to pay rent or any food cost.
