Over 57 distinct threat actors with ties to China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia have been observed using artificial intelligence (AI) technology powered by Google to further enable their malicious cyber and information operations.
"Threat actors are experimenting with Gemini to enable their operations, finding productivity gains but not yet developing novel capabilities," Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) said in a new report. "At present, they primarily use AI for research, troubleshooting code, and creating and localizing content."
Government-backed attackers, otherwise known as Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups, have sought to use its tools to bolster multiple phases of the attack cycle, including coding and scripting tasks, payload development, gathering information about potential targets, researching publicly known vulnerabilities, and enabling post-compromise activities, such as defense evasion.
Sherman's Memoirs. I think it's about a guy from Scranton, PA who gets too many haircuts, and spends most of his time at his daughter's sports events. Oh, he smokes cigars, too.

The purpose of the State of the Nation Project is to provide an overall assessment of how the country is doing on a wide range of factors that we, and the American people, believe are important. Below is a summary of our report: 37 measures across 15 topics. We report each measure in two different ways (where possible): our national trend and the percentage of middle- and high-income countries we outperform (a higher number is always better). All of these measures were supported by a supermajority of the authors and the ones with p next to the measure name were also supported by a supermajority of the general public. In the Executive Summary and topic sections, we also discuss how our international ranking is changing over time and provide more discussion of the conclusions we draw from these data.
"Toxicologist Matthew Campen has been using this method to isolate and track the microplastics — and their smaller counterparts, nanoplastics — found in human kidneys, livers and especially brains. Campen, who is at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, estimates that he can isolate about 10 grams of plastics from a donated human brain; that’s about the weight of an unused crayon." https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-025-00405-8
Researchers have discovered that breathing affects pupil size, with the pupil being smallest during inhalation and largest during exhalation. This newly identified mechanism is independent of external stimuli and could influence vision by alternating between detail enhancement and object detection.
What I found ironic was that it doesn’t prove anything. It was made out to be a scientific study about misinformation; however, the “study” used so many variables concurrently with each other that there is absolutely no way to tell which variables altered the outcome of said study.
In other words, they threw a bunch of numbers together from a bunch of different statistics that all affected each other and created a study about misinformation that in of itself is misinformation.
Thanks, Rusty. I lose track on occasion. It's a problem all the soft 'sciences' have (psych, sociology, etc.) and I fall into it far too often. We are making it up as we go along.
Black squirrels are becoming more common in the US, apparently in response to the evolutionary pressures of cars. Research suggests that in rural areas, gray fur is favored by natural selection as it’s hard for the squirrels’ natural predators to see. But in cities, black fluff could offer the animals a greater advantage: Studies of roadkill in upstate New York suggested that black squirrels were less likely to be hit by cars because they are easier for drivers to spot. “Roadkill is a really common way for squirrels to go in cities,” one researcher told New Scientist, suggesting that evolution has boosted black squirrels’ numbers in urban spaces.
