When is Musk going to learn that mixing business with politics is a bad idea?
Tesla shares fell nearly 7% in premarket trading, after Elon Musk's plans to launch a new US political party reignited investor concerns about his commitment to the electric-vehicle maker's future.
Just wonder why Tesla stocks seem to go up or down depending on his comments, do other company's vary this much?

President Trump called Musk "off the rails" and the stock value dropped 7%. Investors are jumpy and nervous critters.
No argument there, just can't figure out why. Unless the stocks were being manipulated. Hypothetically, if he fell off the face of the earth, would that be the end of Tesla?

Only if the oligarchy wants it that way. All of these stocks and market things are completely manipulated to influence politics and commoners from their money. Game Stop should have proven that. A thousand people turned that company from dead to healthy just by colluding. Does anyone really think that a hundred billionaires can't or don't or won't do the same?
@ScotchnSmoke sux lots of large wéiners. And tons of small ones.
FEMA Didn’t Answer Thousands of Calls From Flood Survivors, Documents Show
Two days after the catastrophic floods in Texas, the Federal Emergency Management Agency did not answer nearly two-thirds of calls to its disaster assistance line. The agency had fired hundreds of contractors at call centers, according to a person briefed on the matter.

Ethics??? We are professional politicians, our ethics are of the highest caliber.
Washington — Attorney General Pam Bondi last week ousted the senior ethics attorney at the Justice Department who advised her and other senior officials on employee ethics, the latest firing that has come amid an ongoing purge of department employees.
I figured we were in trouble when "moderation" became politically distasteful.
Senate Approves Trump’s Bid to Cancel Foreign Aid and Public Broadcast Funds
The bill to claw back $9 billion in congressionally approved spending passed over the objections of Republicans who said it abdicated the legislative branch’s power of the purse.
If they voted to approve, they didn’t abdicate the power of the purse. Technically speaking.
But politically speaking, PBS deserves no more money than individuals are willing to give.
I think a good percentage of people are on the "what's in it for me" side rather than on the "what do you need" side. Moderation is a good balance of both of those. YMMV.
I have to say, I love PBS/NPR, and donate every year. It comprises at least 50% of my TV time. I also admit the leftist bias of the organization, but I keep in mind that saying about needing both wings for the eagle to fly.
I also believe that federal funding for legitimate research purposes is necessary. All the funding for LGBTQ agendas etc. is nonsense, in my opinion, but there are some things that are too large for private equity to handle.
Note that Big Pharma's claims to needing exorbitant prices for research that is already fully funded by federal funding should be examined and dealt with as fraud when the occasion arises.
At any rate, in addition to Shawn's listings above there is customs regulation, national law enforcement and the sadly needed federal correctional facilities that should NEVER be in the hands of private equity. Border regulation, air space management etc. need to be handled. Emergency management on a federal scale needs funding.
Lastly, education. The ties to Left / Right agendas need to be closely monitored and usually removed, but, again, some things are too big and too important to be left out. There's probably more, but this is what comes to my mind in an instant.
Of course, these are simply the opinions of one individual schmo in rural Tennessee, but this schmo had to voice his opinion.

I just think that the radical ideology needs to be removed, it needn't be a part of federal funding. However, some states have a lot more people and money, and generally educating the next generation should be equal across the board. NO ideology need apply, teach them how to think, not what to think.

I figure states should fund their own education. They don't need a radical leftist ideology shoved down their throats in the red states. (Doesnt make much sense if it's a red state who runs the education system)
I figure states should fund their own education. They don't need a radical right conservative ideology shoved down their throats in the blue states. (also doesn't make much sense if it's a blue state who runs the educational system.)
Orrrrrrr........
I figure states should fund their own education. They don't need a radical ideology shoved down their throats in any state.
Shawn's statement points out how he doesn't want the left agenda pushed down his throat, but sort of makes it clear that he would be OK with a conservative agenda being pushed down someone's throat. I think I like my statement better.

Oh, I'm definitely for teaching a conservative viewpoint. That's what Americans need, especially today's youth. Republicanism is what this country was founded on.

My dad always said "what are 50,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start". He was bankrupted by unscrupulous lawyers.

I generally don't want any viewpoint in the education system. Just the facts good and bad would be great.
