While I'm here in politics, I hate this thread because all I do is pìss folks off but the budget fights will heat up this month. R's want to split it up into individual spending bills instead of one big omnibus. I dont understand why our military budget doesn't include taking care of our veterans to give us a true cost of our military endeavors. The VA, different tab, disabled, different tab. We have to take care of these folks but show us the cost before you plan our next sortie.

Edit; I totally support our military, just show us the total cost. It's already our largest line item, not including the ancillary cost. It will soon be overtaken by interest on accumulated debt.

Omnibus bills and baseline funding are a large part of our financial mess.

In case there is any doubt about who is paying the tariffs:

American businesses have paid over $210 billion as of August 24 to cover the tariffs that US courts have determined are illegal. On Tuesday, Trump acknowledged that the court’s decision, if upheld by the Supreme Court, could result in the US Treasury having to “give back” tariff revenue collected.

So we can expect the businesses to send us refund checks for the difference we paid, right?

Don't know how true this is, but if it is it doesn't sound good.

The building uncertainty about the fate of humans here and abroad has people flocking, in the US, and abroad to crypto, precious metals, and meanwhile the equities markets are severely overbought, but a crash seems certain. Will there be enough munitions to go around?
