Not really. I think I know what his point was. I figure he thinks he's smart enough to recognize a parody article, but he thinks some of us are not smart enough and he's just helping out. Thanks Pete.

    Don't sell yourself short @Bob_Luken you're a tremendous slouch.

But I do think that you're partially correct. Because sheep be sheep, my friend. BaaaaAaAAAaaAAAAAaaaa

Bob, you're such a hypocrite. If I had posted some baseless satirical piece on your Lord and Savior, Trump Christ, you would've been one of the first pointing it out. Now it's time to get off my lawn.

The satire of Kamala Harris wasn't baseless, Pete, but if you think it was mean or harsh, and want to be "balanced" and "fair" and "be with her" that's fine too. @vision

LOL That’s some fantasy you have there. As if you’d actually post anything on your own. You’re 100% a pot shot guy. We all know that. We all are to some degree but some of us occasionally make statements. Never you. You always work some angle against someone else.

This is a sticky wicket, to borrow a phrase. It is alarming, in my opinion, and seemingly a clear violation of the Posse Comitatus act. If I'm correct, only the National Guard, at the behest of a state's governor, can take such actions lawfully. This is disturbing, to say the least.

The larger problem, as I see it, is that the governors have been unwilling to take action themselves. Behind that inaction, of course, is the question as to whether or not such action is warranted at all.

Locally I'm aware that the possibility of such need may exist. For instance, when a local High School football team travels to Memphis to play against a H.S. team there, a Sheriff's escort is necessary to escort the team into and out from the Memphis school. This is done to prevent actual violence in the form of beatings, stabbings, and shootings done by the Memphis residents. Over a stupid football game! High School!

I'm guessing that it is things of this nature, as well as other offenses, that are prompting the use of troops.

So, if the local police can't guarantee the populations safety, and the Governors won't act to protect their citizens, who will?

    Any suggestions?

Is the Federal response to be "Oh, you guys aren't worried, so why should we care?"

How should we deal with acceptance of acts of violence and carnage at the State level?

    Hand wringing doesn't count.

This coming from the person who just re-posts grandma's Facebook posts and memes as some sort of fact. Laughable. An original thought has never left your fingertips.

I think you're very smart. I think you knew what you were doing when you posted it. If it were meant to have been a joke, I don't think you would've posted it in the political discussion...... discussion thread. I don't think you posted it as some sort of joke where everyone would understand it came from a satirical website either. If it were to be a joke, you would've posted where it came from. I think this is exactly the type of thing we talk about all the time, where you can just report something and people will believe it as fact. Maybe it's just easier to be more tolerant at a younger age, maybe it's a generational thing. I don't know.

Peter probably should have made clear that his post came from Babylon Bee, I have to agree there.

Of course, it sounded so much like something that she would say that it was hard to tell the difference. That's why he needed to clarify.

To your point, she said some really dumb things during her campaign, which cost her votes and possibly the election. I wasn't sticking up for her, neither did I vote for her.

I think Peter definitely posted this as a joke, and assumed people had average intelligence and could realize it was a joke. I've posted meme's or other forms of humor in here instead of other threads to keep politics out of the way of the people who don't want to see that, since it's so divisive. I'd imagine he was doing the same thing.

I think the tolerance point you bring up is interesting, since you seem to struggle with that at times. Are you calling yourself old?

Yes I'm old, and I wear pants. But I'm no lady. Can you give me an example where I've ever been intolerant of anybody's opinion? Or is this just your opinion? Or is this just a "pot-shot" "people had average intelligence" ?? 😳 That's sneaky good, really good.... attacking at the man.... attaboy!

Maybe I just believe that nonsense shouldn't be posted out there as fact or just posting something without the source is dishonest. Was I wrong in calling out the post? No, and to some degree you know that. But the intolerance part, that's baseless. I don't care what anybody's beliefs are. I've always said if you have formed the thought or opinion on your own and come to some sort of conclusion that you believe deeply in the fiber of your being, you should follow it. I think today's society looks at the media, social media maybe more so, and thinks ....YEAH! I believe what that person with 1 million followers says so it's gotta be true!!! They feel the same way I do!!!" We don't think for ourselves anymore, that's too tiresome. It's much easier to have our favorite social media member I think for us. @CalvinAndHobo , you are somebody who likes to wax intellectual, you don't feel the same way about the current state of our political climate thinking for us?

one solid point would be post a satirical article regarding a fake Harris speaking tour right after we all just watched in real time Trump's dementia riddled speech at the UN.

That's a special set of blinders you're wearing there Peter..

Those have never come from me. I call out the bullshit, not spew it.

I was paraphrasing, sure, but that's your MO. And that's why I asked "what's your point" because when your post a "drive-by" that can be taken one way or another, and someone calls it out, you like to backpedal with one of the above responses (or something like it). I'm not taking the time to go back and search for examples, but I don't think I'm the only one who notices.

Note to self; make it abundantly clear to include any posts from the Bee are meant as satire. Don't assume anybody will take it as an actual news story.

As for the satire in the Bee article, based on the numerous Dem commentors agreeing Harris' book and her tour to promote was ill-timed, self-serving, and hurtful to the party.

Fair enough. I will make sure to include a satire disclaimer.

Going forward, you're saying that every time I post anything derogatory of the Left, I need to balance it out with a dig on the Right too. Got it.

Or, you could state why the satire was unwarranted and inaccurate. Have fun telling us what good job Kamala did and/or is doing with her book.
