I have also found that “yonder” is geographically universal. A place can be over yonder, out yonder, back yonder, up yonder, down yonder, just plain yonder, or any other direction possible….but good luck finding it on a map.

Our US of A was settled east to west so people should generally say “out west" and “back east". Someone in Colorado is incorrect to say, "I'm going out to Wisconsin". The guy in Wisconsin correctly says, "I'm going out to Denver". In Tennessee I might not say "back to Baltimore", just because I've never spent much time there, but I would never say "out" to Baltimore, because that would be a self-centered perception that "out" would be any direction from my location. A good neutral word is "over", works in all directions but feels like it doesn't cover longer distances.
Also, north is top of a map, people should say “up” in reference to traveling any northward direction. Same thing with “down” being the word for going south of wherever you currently are. However, there is also the element of elevation which can throw the previous up-down guidelines out the window. If you are navigating a significant change in elevation, up might be south and down might be north on the map. And on the rivers, you might not believe this but, you say northbound or southbound by the flow and not by the compass. If you're traveling on the Tennessee river in Tennessee, and you are southbound, you'll end up in Kentucky, geographically north of Tennessee. What if you're in East Tennessee and headed for Alabama?

Going for my carry license renewal. They want a copy of my birth certificate. I gave them a copy of it five years ago. Why do they want it again? Why do I have to prove I was born again? Dont they still have it on file?

As a way to make sure it’s you and not someone that found your old permit. They’ll get as many forms of I.d. as they can. People try all kinds of stupid shìt and it ends up making it harder to legitimately get things done.

I have to show up in person with my application and payment. They have my photo and fingerprints on file.

When did the first day of the week become the “day of rest”? Our seven day week dates all the way back to ancient Babylon. The first day was named for the sun, Sunday. The same when it was adopted by the Hebrews, Romans, and now present time. So why do we recognize the first day of the week as our day of rest instead of the last day of the week?

Quakers call Sunday first day, avoiding the Roman pantheon. Saturday is the seventh day, And on the seventh day God rested.
Whatever, we're making it all up.

Sunday's the day of rest because the landowners and robber barons reluctantly realized that working us Monday through Saturday was the best option. They knew that working us 7 days a week, week in and week out, wouldn't be good, so they gave us off on Sundays.

Has anyone given any thought to where we’re all gonna go when they shut this down? It’s eventually going to happen. Maybe sooner than later. The technology is outdated and the issues seem to be coming more often. One day someone will decide the upkeep just isn’t worth it and switch the flip.

Last of it's kind I think. Everyplace else is heavy on censorship/moderation.

We’ve talked about this before. “This place is great/ it might not last, where to go,etc.” When the time comes, I’d rather have our own place rather than try to blend in at an established forum. I’m willing to pay my share of the rent for the space to be ourselves.

Also, you don't hear the word brickbat used anymore.
And another thing. People don't know how to use the word anymore, anymore.
Never mind, I thought it was something really dumb like how people say, "on accident" instead of "by accident". I did some googling and found that some North American dialects define anymore differently or as I like to put it, they learned it wrong.

quokka
When a female quokka with a joey in her pouch is pursued by a predator, she may drop her baby onto the ground; the joey produces noises which may serve to attract the predator's attention, while the mother escapes.
