Haven't seen the inside of a gym in years. Hard enough work just keeping this place thawed.
I'm still troubled by what I did for that Klondike bar...1 -
Ok gents, let's resurrect an oldie. Going back 10 years i was 38 and in the best shape of my life. Lifting every day and got to the point where I was the strongest I'd ever been. Of course that was derailed by a shoulder injury and it was a great excuse to get lazy and fat.
November 2024 I was the heaviest I've been in my life. 252 pounds of fat. I made the decision to get back in the gym, shoulder pain be damned. 14 months later I'm 210 pounds and in great physical shape again. I limit barbell exercises and mainly focus dumbells and machines for chest now. I have another 15 pounds or so of fat to go and then will bulk again. I severely cut back on alcohol and improved my diet a bunch. It's never too late fellas. Life's too short, put in the work."I drink a great deal. I sleep a little, and I smoke cigar after cigar. That is why I am in two-hundred-percent form."

That explains it! I noticed distilleries in KY closing and/or slowing way down. Now I get it!
LOL
Way to go, buster!

If the weather allows I walk three miles every other day. Nothing is flat here in these mountains so it's up hills and down hills on old logging tracts. Good cardio workout and I get to see critters every now and then. I've got a reclining bike, a pull down/pull out machine, a bench and a full set of dumbbells in my studio for the days I cannot walk. I'm 78 and still weigh 165 the same as I was when I graduated from Parris Island. Got to keep moving.

I just got back to the gym the last week, up 20 pounds since I quit in SeptemberI missed several weeks at the gym starting in November, due to the holidays and not feeling well for a few weeks. I hate how much I lose when missing a few weeks. It's like starting over from zero.

I had a surgery that required a month layoff that I turned I to 3 1/2 months, was getting winded walking the dog up a gentle incline. Haven't lost much strength but cadio is shot

Started back to the routine today. Have to agree with Todd and Randy. Taking time away from exercise, 6 weeks, the endurance fades quick.

Hoping to get state #30 in for my races. Run or walk 6 days a week and do body weight workouts every day and weights 4 days a week.

At my age, missing a day or two feels like starting over 😳
Regarding a cigar, the pipe and the open road, go forward without hurry, learn the essence of things through frequent experiences, taking advantage of every occasion.

Last time I went to the gym was in June on my cruise in the Bahamas. I came home started my second job and couldn’t force myself to get up early enough to go. I think I’ll be quitting said job soon though(as long as no more surprises) and getting back to my routine before too long.
