I hate to say but I think my running days are over. After trips to the doctors and shots in my knees over the years, I think it’s time to find something else. Body weight exercises and weights are a staple for me but I need some cardio. I have been walking every day but just not the same.

Problem with getting into biking is price and time for me. I have friends that are into this and just not for me. I told my wife that I know of one way of keeping my heart rate up every day and after she rolled her eyes and punched me I am thinking of something else

True, it is more of a monetary investment than running. That bike shown is about $1200, so it's on the low end of decent bikes. Maintenance has a price, too. I'm not sure about the time comparison though. How often do/did you run, and how long? I don't ride every day, usually only on the weekends, although sometimes we just take a quick ride right from home, maybe 10-15 miles, which takes about an hour. Some people ride daily. I can't ride that often, but I don't need to to maintain the fitness level that I'm happy with.
One thing I am sure of, it beats hell out of riding a stationary bike, even one with a screen in front of it. I can ride a stationary bike for about 10 minutes before wanting to slit my wrists, but I can ride outside for 2-3 hours and never get bored.
Riding is so much easier on the knees. I used to hike, and could easily do 12-15 miles, but now can't walk 3 miles without pain, but, like I said, I can ride 2+ hours with no pain, so it works for me.

My run day are 5 miles except for one a week long run. 3-4 days a week running and the other days I walk 4 miles. We hike a lot so wont give up that or walking. Just dont want the old man to get in yet.

Larry…10 intervals…15 seconds balls out/1 minute recovery (steady pace) …x10…this will get you to max HR…approximately 3.5 miles in 13+ minutes. It’s equivalent or better to a 5 mile run at a fast pace. However, waaaaaay less stress on your joints.4 -

Hit the gym today. Felt good. Worked on those 10lb weights hard! Still basically fat tho so this could take some time.

Found I have a hernia. No fitness for this guy for a while. Just more pancakes. I'll be the salmon of this bunch.

It’s been two weeks since I’ve touched a weight!!! I feel like I’m stuck in a slow death. Serious injuries and the associated pain absolutely sucks but reminds me not to take anything for granted.

The boss and I just finished a 12 mile hike. One more long hike before the mammoth march in April in Birmingham Alabama. It’s not running but it’s with my sweetheart!

What's the mammoth march, Larry? @genareddog

What's the mammoth march, Larry? @genareddogIt’s a 20 mile hike they have in state parks across the country. It started after Covid and has grown like wild fire.

20 miles takes a bit of training, yes. Is there much elevation change?
