Just sayin'...

Just a little note to let the Brethren know that I may be a bit absent for a while. Just found out today that one of the ambulance companies I work for has officially shut its doors this morning. Unfortunately, they didn't tell any of the employees until they showed up for work. A hasty fiscal court meeting was called and we were told that another company had already applied for a temporary Certificate of Need, thereby placing them in charge of providing medical for the county that I live in. So yep, I no longer have two jobs...
Now that my rant is over, I'd like to say that trades and passes involving me will be few and far between. Worst of all, NO BUYING!!! I will, however, participate in the passes and trades I've already set-up or obligated myself to.
I'm already on the hunt for a secondary form of income, so hopefully things will be back to normal for me ASAP. Thanks for listening to me whine and cry. Long ashes, Brothers!

Sorry to hear this, no chance of the new company picking you guys up to service the area? If not I am sure something better will come along.

Sorry to hear about that. It seems to be the new way to do it, blindside the staff. Bunch of bs, but I am sure you will find something. And if not, there is always bank robbing and male prostitution. Either a stick up or *** shack to get them dolla billz.

Sorry to hear the news brother. Something will turn up soon for you I am sure of it.

Thanks for the support, brothers. The new company isn't obligated to hire any of us, but it would be irresponsible to bring in their employees who don't know the area.
TJ, I'm not sure my crippled aZZ would be able to make the get away on a robbery and I've already mentioned the Deuce Bigalow route with the wife, who gave me a resounding NO for an answer. I guess now is a good time to start producing Hungarian, geriatric, paraplegic l*****n midget-clown porn...

I, too, am sorry to hear it. You're right about the way they do it but it isn't a new tactic. Health forced me to retire in '89 but the last number of my working years saw similar tactics. A lot of employers demand loyalty from their employees but offer absolutely none in return. It's a d@mned shame but it's reality.

If you don't mind a small commute to PA we're grotesquely short on medics

Daniel, Sorry to hear about this.
    Hopefully, something will work out.
I know it's no consolation, but sometimes these things happen for a reason. A better opportunity may present itself. Hoping for the best for you.

Yeah, well, either that or the midget-clown porn you suggested earlier. Either sounds like an option to look into. Hope it works out for ya

believe it or not it may be pretty hard to make it in that biz, pretty much already there, though if you stayed more on a "clown" theme maybe.

One door closes, and perhaps another opens? Time to get more serious into the tattooing game perhaps?

That's one of my plans. I'll have a few extra days during the week to sling more ink, but 10 hrs is one helluva drive just for a tattoo Glen...

If the closest tattoo parlor is 10 hours away, wouldnt it make sense to open your own joint? Would seem to indicate there is a wide open market for you unless Im missing something, which is entirely possible. Should we take this to pm's?

Had to read it a couple times. At first glance, it looked like Jiunn wanted you to go buck naked on his cigar stash. ROFL!

    Dan,
I'm sorry to read about your situation. Situations like this truly anger me - the fact that some companies/executives/etc. act this way and will leave their employees high and dry without any sort of notice...that's unforgivable.

But I do hope that the new company (re)hires you and...wouldn't it be sweet if they end up paying better than the old company?

Fire up some good smokes in the mean time and keep your head up!

Thanks, John. The EMS part of the FD I work for had to shut down due to financial reason which they are currently working to rectify. Turns out it was because of a lazy billing agency that we had to close up shop. The employees have all applied for their Unemployment Benefits, with the exception of those who had a second job. Hopefully, we can open the doors again within a few months.
I spoke to the owners of the "new" company and was not impressed... Their primary business is a carpet store and they've owned an EMS service for three months, which is actually going bankrupt! They offered more hours, but less pay and absolutely no benefits. With what my wife and I have in the bank, the income from the other service I work for and what I can bring in from a few extra days of tattooing/piercing I should be ok until we reopen. I'd like to thank everyone again for your kind words and support.
Jiunn, the Sacramento trip may have to wait a while. Besides, I'm sure you've already been buck nekkid with your stash...

    Oh man, what a mess.
That sounds like it's "good" news that the FD/billing agency are aware of the problem and working to fix it....(at least as good as a situation like this can be). It's still frustrating to think that they'd shut down without giving you guys any sort of warning though....

And you should have asked the owner of the new EMS Co. how the f*** does he go from carpet store to EMS service....LOL WTF?!?!?!? That's quite the combo.
