Re: Recommend me some hard liquor to go with a cigar
Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban is a great scotch, finished in Port casks, so it has a rich chocolaty finish that pairs really well with cigars. I also drink a lot of Flor de Cana rum with smokes, especially the Grand Reserve (7 year I think), because it's smooth and flavorful, but not very expensive (pay about 22$ for a bottle… -
Re: An impatient smoker? Go Mas Gordo!
Buy an ashtray, set the smoke down. Read a book. Pair the stick with a nice drink. Remind yourself that cigars are not cigarettes. You're smoking them to relax, taste, and enjoy the aroma. That's what I did when I noticed I was smoking too fast. I also smoked less often. It's worked. Now I'm slow as hell. -
Re: Infused Cigars
I didn't care for the Kuba Kuba or the Blondie Belicoso. I like to pair my cigars with either bourbon, porto or marsalla and the sweetness was either overwhelming or incompatible with the drink. I was anxious that they might impart their flavor to my humi so I smoked 'em pronto. I am curious about the coffee infused and… -
Re: Fuente King T
thehoff: docbp87: thehoff:Edit: Beverage was Seagrams Gin and Tonic. Ewwwww. With a cigar? Noooooo thank you. True, it is a sub-par gin, but my other options were bud, jim, and applepucker among some more random things that I wouldn't care drinking. It's all good. It was a relief to come home to my tanqueray and Kraken. No… -
Re: The best drink with a Gurkha Beauty?
Nothing against the good people at Pepsi, but I don't think it pairs as well with a cigar as Coke does. I don't often have water with a cigar unless I am drinking it because I am hot and thirsty. Sweet tea works well but sometimes is too sweet, overwhelming the cigar. I do like coffee hot or cold with many cigars and I can… -
Re: Help me do a contest! - Here is the contest - UPDATED
Had a great time. Popped my opus x cherry thanks to AJ. The drinks were good. Had the entire line of knob creek including their smoked maple (which paired rather well with the opus). I had 2 cigars, AJ had 2 cigars, and aJ's wife smoked 1. That was a total of 5, so Morgan, you are the wiener. I'll post some pictures from… -
Re: Man O' War Armada
I'm not saying I was totally put off by it, but rather let down by my expectations of the cigar. Had I paired it appropriately and not expected one thing, I probably would have enjoyed it a bit more. I do agree though, that this is a very personal hobby, much as alcohol and food tasting. It really demonstrates the saying… -
Re: Carbonation
0patience:I guess I'm an oddball. I really like Root Beer or Sarsparilla with a lot of my cigars, especially cameroons. That actually makes sense to me though Tony, the sweet and mild spice of sasparilla especially makes a lot of sense and I could see how the seer Cameroon wrapper pairs well with those drinks. Cool idea… -
Re: Camacho American Barrel-Aged
I'm smoking one now. I'm not tossing it but, not digging it much either. Update: Well, I'm about to change my tune on this cigar. Maybe it just took a while for my palate to warm up to it. Whatever it is , I began enjoying it more after the first third. I can pick up the slight bourbon at this point, especially with a… -
Re: A new vice....scotch talk
Definately agree with this statement that some scotches dont go well with cigars and some cigars dont go with well with Scotch. So heres what I have to say. v Connie wrappers are mostly going to get wiped out by most scotches. That being said some of the sweeter scotches - Edrador, vanilla and almond - actually pairs…
