Yeah, it was pretty cool. At one point I had 6 or 7 of them walking around on me. There was another guy who had a few on him, too. Birds, babies, and dogs are always fascinated with me. I don't know why, but it happens a lot. These little guys were grooming me like one of their own.

I've been impressed. Haven't had a bad one yet. I've seen them in the "what are you smoking..." threads, and on my recent trips to Nashville I've picked up a few at the B&M where I usually go for Davidoff cigars. Come to think of it, I don't think I got any Davidoff's. I tried these, and Atabey, which I'd also never had. It was also very good.
A lot of you guys, especially Edward, smoke cigars I've never heard of, it always makes me curious. I don't know if anyone ever notices, but I don't react to cigars I don't know. If you post something I know and love in those threads I check "awesome" or "like" etc., but if I don't know the cigar, well, I don't put an opinion.
Funny thing, I'm not as discerning with pipe tobacco, I suppose because the various possibilities are so wide ranging. There's lots of pipe tobacco that I might not like, for myself, but that others might think are the best ever.
Not so much with cigars. There's variety, of course, but a cigar is still a cigar. Infused don't count so much in that sense, they're more like the pipe tobacco, and I rarely even try them. Some aren't bad though, for instance today's daily deal, the Cafe con Leche Tabak Especial. I like those, sometimes, and I've bought them for friends who want to try to understand the cigar experience, all while explaining to them that these are infused, but still impart the tobacco at least as much as the infusion, unlike some others.
At any rate, all of the Foundation cigars I've tried have been quite good. The guys at the shop, Franklin Cigar, are pretty knowledgeable and make good suggestions after giving them information on the flavor profiles I prefer, and I can inspect the cigar before buying, something one cannot do with on-line offers.

When not tending her garden, Foe’s priority will be getting the word out about genetic fragility and her hypothesis about the solution millions of years of evolution have wrought to protect the complexity of life. This project’s current form, an extended exposition in the journal Integrative Organismal Biology, is up against the reduced attention spans of modern readers. Foe’s prose resembles that of historical synthetic monographs such as Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species (1859) or D’Arcy Wentworth Thompson’s On Growth and Form (1917), which bore down on details over hundreds more pages. But in our fast-paced digital age, few scientists want to attend to long explanations any more, even when the intricacy of the things being described demand them. Foe is trying to break up this transformative story into digestible bites, but I can sense that it pains her to do so. Her other challenge is that the independent path she chose means a younger generation of biologists is largely unaware of her. Her focus has been on the work itself, cultivating life in and outside the lab, and not the scientific seminar or conference circuits.

We began in a world with twice as much literacy as we have now. We’ve lost 50% of literacy in the last fifteen years. So, that epiphenomenon of writers like me being attacked and abandoned by our friends running scared of social media was part of the progression towards illiteracy and the fundamental inability to morally deliberate, which now characterises our society and which will propel us into authoritarianism, like America. That’s what the book’s about.
Someone who can’t read a book cannot deliberate, cannot think and cannot conceptualise, and therefore is a threat – particularly humans who, instead of conceptualising in isolation and being able to think inside their own heads, only think through their engagement with others. That’s where fascism gets going, or social movements that depend on a kind of hysterical level of identification. What books and the ability to read books do is present a barrier that prevents you from being able to avoid moral deliberation at some point.
