I drove a 140 mile round trip to the Asheville VA yesterday to have my annual physical. The Doc, a Marine Corps veteran told me I was in better shape than he was. All good. The trip down off the mountain was a way for me to see spring. I had to clear my ears a couple of times as I dropped in elevation. The wild cherries and red buds were blooming and putting out their first leaves. A joy to watch.I got to the VA early to make sure my labs were available to the Doc when I saw him. I had a hour to wait so I walked the one mile perimeter path around campus. 70 degrees was nice.
On the trip back I got to see the blooming trees again. The older I get the less I like driving that distance but seeing the spring that is two weeks before we get it was worth it all.
I might see if I can take the kiddos to see it on the 18th when it’s here. The station is like a 20 minute walk from my house. Might as well check out the browning museum while I’m there too.
