Hey, I was just helping him scratch an itch. I didn’t mean for him to turn into a junkie.

SDPC had their once a year allotment of Esoterica and Germains inventory come in. There was approximately 25 eight oz bags of various esoterica, 40 ish eso tins and 20 ish germains tins. We had a round robin drawing. Every time your number came up we were allowed to pick one tin or 2 oz loose tobacco until the inventory was gone or until nobody wanted anymore tobacco. The prices were normal $25-$30.
That's one of the hardest things I've found in pipe tabacco so far.....Not to chase limited avaliable blends.
I understand why people do it.
I know myself well enough to know if I really like that blend, I wouldn't smoke it because I couldn't replace it....And I like smoking what I buy.
I keep telling myself....There are hundreds if not thousands of blends out there I haven't tried yet that I know I get more with no problem.
I wholeheartedly agree with you. I’m a smoke what you have guy. Tomorrow is not a guarantee.
As far as chasing lore laden blends, I’m not willing to pay astronomical inflated prices. Like you, I’m willing to try everything else out there. If I do find something that strikes me extraordinarily, I’ll buy in quantity what I’m comfortable and willing to spend.
I’ve been fortunate enough to try several aged and no longer available blends from some very generous forum members here @Hawks @Rdp77 @Stubble @silvermouse as well as members from the San Diego Pipe Club. Some are good and some have been extraordinary. However, paying 10x to 20x the original cost is not worth it to me.
There’s plenty of untried blends out in the wide world of tobacco I’m more willing to investigate.
Re: Whatcha smokin this afternoon??
