Had to get the wood stove in my studio up and running this morning. 62 yesterday morning and 31 this AM. My stove is cast iron double wall Vermont American with a two speed blower. Takes a while to get hot but holds heat well. Now I have a pile of offcuts to split for kindling.

Does immigration really drive up crime? Not according to the evidence
by Paolo Pinotti and Olivier Marie, The Conversation
Immigration and crime were once again central themes throughout the US presidential election campaign. The belief that immigration drives up crime is one of the oldest—and strongest—convictions held by the public, spanning over a century in the US and elsewhere.
This view remains deeply rooted despite mounting evidence to the contrary, in large part thanks to politicians such as Donald Trump, who are all too keen to amplify this narrative. Since his first presidential campaign announcement in June 2015, Trump has persistently linked immigration to crime.
...
But what does the evidence really show? Our analysis reveals that studies consistently find no causal link between immigration and increased crime across a variety of countries. Research from the US, including both older and more recent studies, as well as research on Italy and the UK, demonstrates that immigration does not have a significant impact on crime rates.

I use a bluetooth OBD2 adapter that connects to my phone with a free app. The first one I bought for $2.67 on eBay, had to wait a month for the boat from china but you can get them off the shelf for around $30. It's saved me a ton of money by pinpointing some fairly simple solutions that would cost you fortune at @MrShrek shop.

Colleen asked me what I thought the week before. I told her it’s fake, bet the Vegas favorite and the distance. If you didn’t know this was rigged, that’s on you. We’ve seen this bullshit several times now.

About five years ago, tier 2 assets and below were no longer allowed to wear or use civilian made GPS enabled devices or apps during operations and exercises due to Strava app revealing a platoons gps location and movement history. This was in effect long before but became mandated so that the less than bright could understand.

Just finished loading big and little branches into my trailer. Three trailer loads. Took them down the road and unloaded off the side on our property. Still cleaning up after Helene. I still have about four hours of chainsaw work yet to do.
Around here the first consideration when going somewhere is " is the place where I'm going still standing? Two out of three of our local post office's are still not working. Our friend in Asheville still has undrinkable water. Bridges are still out.
