Call me petty, I am all here for the FAFO season. Hard to turn the other cheek for people who actively hate on people they never knew were so vital to the backbone of America. Nebraska farmers finding out those “undocumented workers” they were cheering to be deported were the same people who kept their farms in business.
Cuban’s who were OK with every other hispanic immigrant being deported finding out they were seen with the same racist eyes..
As for the news, it’s owned by the same people on both sides hell bent on dividing this country so they can rob us blind.
The market thrown into turmoil so the person who created it can brag about his buddies turning that turmoil into billions in profit.
This country used to have a soul. These days I find myself rooting for the asteroid

Been thinking about this. It's not making me angry It's making me disappointed in people and myself.
I never thought I would see so much pettiness, spite, greed and hate being celebrated by people.
I know it's always been there, but it's getting worse by the minute.
It's not who I am and it's not who I want to be...But watching this garbage every day is starting to turn me that way.
We can't even blame ignorance anymore with all this knowledge at were fingertips. I truly believe 99% of us can't handle it and it will be our undoing.
Dam that's some heavy **** for a rainy Fri morning.....

US political rhetoric: Analysis of 8 million speeches shows increased reliance on personal beliefs over facts

Discussion of "alternative facts" has gained sad notoriety in US politics. Yet the question has been around much longer: How do people conduct political debates—is the focus more on facts or personal opinions? In the journal Nature Human Behaviour, a team of international researchers led by the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" looked into the matter.
The researchers examined political rhetoric in 8 million speeches by members of the US Congress between 1879 and 2022 to see if the focus of their language was more on data and facts or personal convictions and subjective interpretations.
The team noticed a significant decline in the use of evidence-based political rhetoric since the 1970s, with a historic low in the present. Over the same period, the researchers observed a decline in legislative productivity, an increase in the political polarization of both political parties as well as growing economic inequality in the US.
