Doubts surround microplastics study
A widely reported study that said it found a large amount of microplastics in human brains may have contained untrustworthy images and data. The 2024 paper apparently showed that there was as much plastic in the average brain as a disposable spoon. But data sleuths have since noted that several images in the study were duplicated, and other researchers told neuroscience outlet The Transmitter that the investigators likely “massively overestimated” microplastic levels because their methods were susceptible to false positives. Such high-profile health research is often prone to exaggeration: A study last year suggesting kitchen utensils released dangerous amounts of carcinogens turned out to have misstated the safety level by a factor of 10.

The mob controlled the machines. As weird as that sounds. So I’m assuming a lot of people betted on the winner. And you didn’t get a choice of if you wanted one or not. They showed up with one and you had to take it. And of course if the box wasn’t full at collection time you had to make up the difference.
