@CalvinAndHobo pretty good take. Hope you're right for your sake. You made a compelling case about the voluntary poor tax, etc. The European example is poignant, as is the boxing example from the last 100 years. "Your ass goes down in the fourth. Say it." 😂

However we do have examples to go against what you said. The biggest one that comes to mind is the Port authority act in which all online gambling was effectively shut down with the stroke of a pen. Yes, there are differences between the two, primarily that online poker and slot machine sites were way smaller than DraftKings and FanDuel. Remember, this is the country that outlawed alcohol 100 years ago. Literally anything is possible. I know two senators and three congressmen who would vote for outlying online sports betting today.

The politician that I'm thinking of is a football fan and is extremely orange and is extremely obese. People seem to follow him off a cliff everyday, not realizing that he's wearing helium socks. That's the politician that could strong-arm this country into outlawing DFS sites and real-time prop bets. I know it doesn't make sense, but nothing about that guy does.

The poison pill will come when the public questions the integrity of the outcomes of the games on a large scale. We are trucking down this avenue right now, and it will become cataclysmic if and when an NFL playoff game or the super bowl in particular is somehow altered. Nfl has to be the driver for this. The other sports are not big enough.

At that point, two things happen. First, people stop watching. I don't mean all together, but ratings could significantly decrease if fans don't have confidence in the outcomes. At this point, the second thing happens, where the leagues turn against the gambling because they know it's going to kill their bottom lines. At that point the owners will compel legislation in my opinion because every owner of every major sports team is part of the elite class of the US, and we all know that the elite class makes the rules.

I absolutely think that the NFL's panic moment is going to happen, and it might happen this year. Again, hope I'm wrong, especially for your sake. But if it does, it's game on.

Agree that you won't stop it, but it's just getting caught more now. It's always been happening and will always continue to happen, regardless of betting or prop betting being legalized or not. It is a shame they couldn't have tipped me off first though.

Understand that it's getting caught. That's a good thing! The scary thing is that someone would be willing to sacrifice 800 grand or 4.9 mil for 1,400 bucks or $7,000 or whatever.

While I appreciate the take that it has always gone on and now it's just getting caught, poor people in the Dominican Republic have never been able to take the under on miles per hour for an opening pitch in the 9th inning because street bookies were not taking that action, and they definitely weren't giving a Plus vig and allowing parlays on the same action.

That's where these online bookies are different. They are legal and accessible to every single person in the world, more or less if street guys are going to take mph action, you're right. We'll never stop it. But then I think sports end. The online guys are regulated. All it takes is one politician in the State of the Union address to complain about his brother's best friend's neighbors who lost 18 bucks on a Clase pitch prop, and the next thing you know there will be a hundred Blue ribbon panels and a senate subcommittee to investigate online gambling. That will be the beginning of the end in my opinion.

Like you said, the flip side is that the online bookies and the brick and mortars help get these guys caught. But it appears that you can only get caught after the fact. Even in this Cleveland game, the two pitchers were put on leave right after a game in which they made bets or facilitated bets. That is to say, after the game is over. That's not going to be good enough for the American public, in my opinion.

Watered the back yard and garden, ordered a new bag for my Toro Super Blower/Vacuum which also chops leaves for mulch, collected the neighbors leaves which they piled on the street for pickup tomorrow so that I can mulch them once the bag came in, charging my EcoFlow River 2 Pro power bank with one of my solar panels on sawhorses, put some aluminum foil over the salt chamber of my Bug-A-Salt held in place with a rubber band as a band-aid until I can print a proper lid and shot at some bugs in the back yard. Reviewed some charges with an accountant, remembered I need to review some other charges with my past broadband provider. Changed the water in the water cooler, about to go through the mail and papers for action.

Both my recent cigar purchases will be coming in tomorrow, my Wife has the day off, unfortunate timing. We probably won't be home so I'll have to pick them up or reschedule delivery.
