So I'm getting a new cooler on monday.
To clean it, do I use alchohol or should I use baking soda?
Also how do I season a cooler?
Last time I'd just put a bowl water in it. It hit 80% pretty fast.I think you may be overthinking this thing. Coolers do not require seasoning, as there is no moisture absorption by the plastic medium. Wash it out, dry it well, and use sufficient Boveda packs to humidify X number of cigars. All done.
Me, personally, I use food grade plastic containers with a Boveda in each and put those in the cooler. If you're not doing this, you may wish to use sticks of Spanish Cedar (mahogany) as spacers for air circulation in the cooler.
Its for boxes.
I was thinking about putting it in ziplock with a boveda. Then in the cooler.

Re: THE NEWBIE WELCOMING THREAD
Hello
My name is Todd and I am from Northeast Ohio.
I have been heavily involved in the bourbon world for a while and even run a bourbon based youtube channel. At the urging of some of my subscribers I dove into the cigar world a couple of months back, and I very much enjoy them.
I probably approach it differently than others here however. I tend to only smoke when I am having a pour, I look for cigars to compliment or even better elevate the whiskey putting the whiskey first.
I have even been making shorts lately in a series i am calling Ricks and Sticks where I am pairing whiskey with cigars finding the best combinations. The whiskey I am all very familiar with, but the cigars it is often my first time trying them.
I have managed to accumulate about 200 cigars so far but with so much put towards whiskey I have to be budget minded so pretty much everything I get is $2-$4/stick from online deals. As a result a large portion of my cigars are Oliva, Rocky, and La Aurora.
Looking forward to watching and learning some things.
