Faye's husband died about 6 years before my wife. I'd known Faye for many years, really respected her for her work ethic and sense of humor, etc., we'd been friends and work for a long time. Friends only.

It helped me a lot to talk to her, they'd told her and her husband that his cancer was in remission, everything looked good. He went septic for some reason and died suddenly. When Alice died, I wasn't prepared at all. We were planning a kitchen remodel, buying stuff, she got sick, went septic and died in just a few days. Turned out she'd been hiding her lung cancer from me, refusing treatment.

At any rate, it was good to have a friend. About 8 months into the friendship she up and kissed me one day. I pulled back and said "Hey! I'm not ready for that!" She respected that, and I was glad for it. Eventually we became more than just friends, but I wouldn't rush anything. I lost my first wife after 20 years together, kind of expected. My second wife after 20 years together, unexpected.

I don't forsee getting married again. But, it is great to have a friend.

Don't let anyone rush you into anything, but also remember that there's only so much time left on this planet for anyone. Don't feel bad when the feelings do arise, we're made that way.
