^^If that was the administration's intent it is nothing short of disgraceful. History should be taught in its entirety, and that's going to include some things that make various groups look bad, and there's no way to get around that, because what they were doing was bad. Let it be what it was.
In a recent discussion about Jackie Robinson I heard two things that I'd never thought of, and never would have thought of.
One was that when the orders in question were acted on, someone simply typed in something along the lines of "delete all first-african-american" into the website and many things that should have remained, had never really been ordered to be removed, were suddenly gone.
The second was a descriptive term for what may be going on with this, oppositional compliance. It's like when a child thinks "I'll show You", and carries out an absurd interpretation of their parent's instruction.
At any rate, put Harriet back where she belongs. I've seen those displays, and anyone who was offended by them needs to grow up and get over themselves. Same goes for anyone engaging in oppositional compliance.
