The «luxury beliefs» of the progressive upper class
In a memoir published last year, psychologist Rob Henderson dissects the hypocrisies of cultural and academic elites particularly within the United States. His book has all the makings of a future classic.
He managed to escape his troubled circumstances when he joined the U.S. Air Force at the age of 18. In the military, he found mentors who rewarded his willingness to perform with trust. Above all, his service in the Air Force taught him the discipline that enabled him to realize his full potential. «The military taught me that people don't need motivation; they need self-discipline,» he writes. «Motivation is just a feeling. Self-discipline is: ‹I'm going to do this regardless of how I feel.›»
I thought driving a dual axle stick on an 80' bucket truck over the Grapevine after it had just been reopened after being plowed without any previous instruction was niche.
Those rental facilities will give anyone the keys to their trucks, I guess.
That's one way to learn lol
My first car was a stick and I couldn't even drive it home. Had one lesson from my very impatient dad and taught myself after that.
