I thought driving a dual axle stick on an 80' bucket truck over the Grapevine after it had just been reopened after being plowed without any previous instruction was niche.
Those rental facilities will give anyone the keys to their trucks, I guess.

That’s true, but the way they see it they lose money by selling it as diesel. When it’s broken down to the point of gasoline there are byproducts that are use to make other things.
Kind of like the reason they don’t sell real milk in stores. It’s much more profitable to break it down into cream, butter, cheese, yogurt, etc, and then sell what’s left over as “milk”.
