Good morning Shawn, Todd and those to come.
The maduro is not my jam. I’ve been trying to find a maduro I like and I just don’t care for em.What did you think of the Tabernacle you recently smoked?
I actually liked this one better than the tabernacle maduro. The tabernacle I had yesterday though I freaking loved!

Not all Maduro are created equally. There is US Broadleaf, Mexican San Andres, Nicaraguan ETC… Maduro(ing) is a process, (Sorry @ScotchnSmoke). Keep track of the leaf you do and do not like. That will help guide future purchases. The Charter Oak is a Connecticut Broadleaf that might just not be in your wheelhouse at the moment.
That’s a very good point! I do like the serie g maduro and the nica libre too
This is the funny thing about cigars. The Tabernacle you loved and the Charter Oak you didn’t are both Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrappers, grown by the same guy, blended by the same guy, and made in the same factory.
They’re completely different tasting cigars though. I don’t care for the charter oak either but really enjoy the tabernacle. The big differences in the two are that they have a different binder and what I’m guessing is not as long of a maturation process for the wrapper on the charter oak.
The more you dive into it, start making notes of combinations (wrapper, binder, filler, blender, factory, country of origin for tobacco) and you can more easily narrow down what you’re looking for when you go looking for something new to smoke.
Just don’t pass on cigars that have maduro wrappers. You’ll find they vary greatly and you’ll miss a lot of really good smokes.
Or the other thing you can do is just smoke AJ's stuff. It doesn't suck.

Thanks to @Stubble for introducing me to these cigars many years ago. CLE Cuarenta... Wish they were still around.
