Welcome back Urbi! Lassy kept your burros warm for you.
Thanks, geebee! I knew Lassy was good for something.

I'm with him in this group, oddly.

And welcome back you old burro ****! The forum hasn't been the same without you. We were worried, started checking obits and everything. Even thought about calling the police in to check on the house. We knew you were old and lived alone didn't want you to be dead in your house for weeks before anyone found you.

    Still riding the bike?
Thanks, you old pederast! (And before this gets completely out of control: for the record, it was Duty who was into burros. My dirty old man tendencies run toward property managers.) Reports of my death were greatly exaggerated.

Still riding the bike. Don't know how much longer I'm gonna be able to do the completely carless thing, though. My folks are getting pretty old and having health problems more often, and I'm learning that, while it's certainly doable to manage all that and be carless, it's sure inconvenient sometimes. So I've been car shopping a bit, lately.

Hey welcome back. We didn't know each other but I've benefitted from many of your old posts. Looking forward to seeing you on here again. What is the whole "Burro" thing about anyway???

Glad to hear something was useful, clearlysuspect. (Anybody come up with a nickname for this fine young man, yet? "Clearlysuspect" is entirely too long to type.)

To be honest, I don't exactly remember the whole burro thing, myself. There used to be another guy on here named Duty, who was very nearly 4 feet tall and used to have this running joke about moving into my humidor. Somehow, a burro got involved in the joke, somewhere along the way. One of these other knuckleheads around here probably remembers.

    Heh. De nada.

I dunno. It's been kind of a frustrating experience. Having driven that Saab all those years, I've learned to love a hatchback. A good one is just a perfect combination of fun to drive and useful for hauling stuff. I was thinking maybe a VW GTI, but it turns out VW's reputation for reliability is terrible, and their dealers are a pain in the ass when you bring one in for repair. There's the Mazda Speed 3, but it only comes with a manual, and my needs include an auto or, ideally, one of those manumatic deals; plus, I'm not sure I'm young enough to be seen in that car.

Right now, I'm kinda leaning toward the Subaru Impreza hatch. Not the WRX. The regular one. I'm not plunking money down for another few months, though, so who knows?

Ha. And they're a laugh a minute. Nice to meet you, too. (BTW, when I was a kid, I wanted to be a firetruck when I grew up.)

Not sure how it came about either, but it sure didn't help that Duty nailed the imaginary burro.

My good friend/temporary room mate just bought a GTI. Their reputation isn't the greatest but its improving. I subscribe to Consumer Reports, being the geek that I am, so if you want me to pull the CR report on any cars let me know. My wife has the Mazda3 sedan, we both love it. The new hatch mazda3, not the speed 3, has everything you're looking for.

I'll definitely keep that in mind, Maddy. Thanks. I'll be interested to hear your friend's experiences with his GTI. For some reason, the normal Mazda 3 never even occurred to me. I'll check it out.

    Hey, is Shirley still around?
He popped in a couple months back and did a little posting...haven't heard from him since. Every so often I'll see his name on the logged in members list, so he apparently drops by. You never know, Lassy came back, maddy came back and now you've come back. Get sirius and the gang's all here.

Thanks, Joe. I was gonna buy a traditional safety, and remember him being into that kind of thing.

I didn't know maddy had left. Must've been after I went on hiatus.

    Do I know anybody here?

Hi, everybody. I used to be around these parts a lot, but I've been away for a while. Thought it was time to renew old acquaintances and make some new ones.

Looking forward to getting to know all the old guys, again, and meeting everybody who's arrived since I left.

Which AVOs do you prefer? I've been a fan of the Domaine for a long time. Haven't gotten around to trying their others, yet, but I did pick up a couple of 787s the other day. And I've never smoked a Davidoff at all, but I've had a sampler in the humi for about a month, now.
the XOs are good as well as the original. im not a fan of the maduro. i find it to be the least complex of the lot.

davidoff is expensive and not as full bodied so its easy to see why others wouldnt like it. i feel the quality and the complexity make the price worth it.

Welcome back Urby!! I went on a hiatus for awhile myself before you went on yours. It's good to see another familiar face(screenname) that welcomed me in and helped me along as a cigar newbie.
