Usually, with an intact stem, if you try to pull them out it pull the leaf it's attached to into a wad that remains in the cigar. That's why I stopped pulling stems out.

Also, what we call stems might sometimes just be larger veins, and veins are just part of the leaf. Stems, veins, whatever they are are critical. They can help with combustion, and without them, the ash wouldn't hold on like we want it to.

I understand that but this was obstructing the draw. I cut it twice and tried a punch but still had the tightest draw I've ever experienced. I tried to poke it and this stem was directly in the middle of the stick. Once it was removed, the stick burned and smoked great!
