I am sorry, but I didn't see your cigar. However, I wasn't looking for it either. There is a chance they might have it. They have the biggest humidor in GA (www.thecigarsuperstore.com).
I think i mat have had my first bad stick from rocky...hopefully it was just a bad one. It was a Autumn Harvest Robsto. Prelight draw was good and it lit well. The first 1/2" was great, earthy and cedary with a noticable amount of spice. Then the burn got bad on one side and stayed bad no matter how many times i touhed it up. The flavor had a slight ammonia twinge that lasted(might just need to be layed down for a few months or so) and the flavor got a harsh edge to it. About half way down the spice got almost overpoweringly peppery and lasted until i set it down. Anyone else have a bad or good time with this one?

Thats the one in Marrieta right? I think they are the biggest Humidor in the southeast. i have been trying to get there but haven't had the chance to yet.
Had a Olde World Maduro last night and i gave a RP Conneticut to my friend. The OWM was off the charts in my book. Smooth and flavorful and just a touch bolder than the 92. The wrapper kind seperated about 1/2 way down but with a little tlc that was fixed. My buddy loved the conneticut and it was his first RP. I think he's converted. If you like Maduro try the OWM, amazing!

Yes, that is the one in Marietta right off of Sandy Plains and Hwy 5. I was just there yesterday actually. I bought:
RP Vintage 99 (never had one)
Macanduo Maduro (great cigar)
Macanudo Hyde Park
Acid Kuba Kuba
Drew Estates Java (never had one before)
kuzi- Although true that these are made by Drew Estates they are produced exclusively for Rocky Patel...one of the reasons that it's taking Steve Saka,Pres,DrewEstates so long to get me the replacement boxes for the two "bitter boxes". This is stated on the bottom of all Java boxes and any comments are requested to be directed to Drew Estates OR Rocky Patel.com. Of course being produced for Rocky Patel is not the same as produced by Rocky Patel so I can see your point.

That kinda makes sense to me because the other day when I bought it, I asked the guy where was the Rocky Patel Javas were, and he directed me the Drew Estates, which I thought was kinda wierd...but oh well, I just bought one, I never had an infused cigar, so I don't know if I will like it....but at least I like coffee, and chocolate...so that's a good start!
Actually the truth behind the Javas is that they are PRODUCED by Drew Estates but were blended by Rocky Patel and are sold by Rocky Patel Reps. Rocky just recently took possesion of a factory, he is the majority owner but it is still managed by the original owners. Until then NONE of Rocky's cigars were produced BY Rocky, only FOR Rocky. He still has many cigars that are produced by AJ Fernandez.
I still haven't been able to uncover why they are called Drew Estates Java but I imagine it was a another smart business move by the genious Jonathan Drew.
So since so many of the posters here like Rocky Patel so much, last weekend for my birthday I decided to try one. Only one of the shops in town was open and they only had 1 kind available, an Edge Maduro.
I have to assume that there was something seriously wrong with that cigar, because it was by a very large margin the worst smoke I've ever had. The best way I can describe it is 'rancid'. I can't believe that a brand that gets such good reviews and that so many of you like could possibly be anything like that. I'm determined to give RP another shot in the future.
Just so nobody feels too bad for my birthday experience, I had the foresight to also get one of my favorite sticks.
Jeez bob i think you got a bad stick. I've had Edge Maduro and Edge Corojo and bothe were excellent. I like the Corojo better, the Maduro tends to run kinda edgy(sorry for the pun). Give the Corojo a shot, its a bit milder but still full bodied, smooth and flavorful, in my opinion.
You had to have gotten a bad stick waffle. However, the Edge has progressively gotten worse. Originally it was a kick ass stick with tons of flavor but the blend has slowly changed over the years and isn't near as good as it once was. If you can find one pick up an Edge Sumatra(the label is red). This is by far the best Edge.
I'm waaaay busy at work, and trying to help my mom with some health issues when I'm not at work. But it's all good. And you?
Maybe doody's got one of those old fashioned computers where you have to pump the treadle with your foot to keep it running. Like the old sewing machines.
This weekend i had two more Rocky's whilst losing my ass in a Reno Casino. A Sun Grown torpedo with loads of ripe flavor and a fantastic draw. Burn was beautiful and it was a smoke bomb with every draw. At the Old World Maduro, had the habano a week prior and the maduro one was fantastic bt i think im partial to the habano, think the smoothness of a 92 with flavor and body kicked up a notch, burned my fingers and not a harsh not to be found. The first 2 inches were incredible.
On the following day my friend tossed me a Gurkha Double Maduro. It was on of those "hey if you like that you'll like this" delas. What a great smoke! good rich smoke full of maduro flavor with a solid medium -ful body and and awesome draw, and a razor sharp burn. I;m going to start trying both sides of the Rocky vs. Gurkha war.....could prove to be tasty at the least!

You're banished, I banish you.
How dare you talk about a Gurkha in the RP thread. I'm just thanking god there were no "rolls royce of cigars" references in your post. I hate that nick-name and its such total BS. LOL enough of my lil rant.

Have you ever seen the video from their website where the guy just sits there with a smug look and says "We ARE the rolls royce of cigars!". I wanted to knock him out.

They think because they age their tobacco longer than anyone, and also use rare tobaccos that qulaifies them as the "Rolls-Royce of cigars".
I've said all this before but Rolls Royce is Rolls Royce bc of how the car is produced not just the materials. One person builds your entire Rolls its not on an assembly line THAT is why they cost so much.
Davidoff is the Rolls Royce of cigars from start to finish Davidoff has unbelievable quality control similar to that of Rolls. When I think Rolls I always think about the fact that the guy who built your car is responsible for your warranty work, if anything goes wrong he is flown to you to fix it.
On the other hand you have Gurkha who doesn't grow their own tobacco, nor ferment it, nor blend it, nor roll it. It is strictly a label. Sure they make some excellent cigars but I'm yet to smoke one or talk to anyone who has that agrees that any of their high end cigars are worth the price tags.
Kaizad Hansotia was a wealthy watch maker who fell in love with a cigar and bought the company and went from there. Everything is contracted out, its a similar story to Rocky Patel except RP doesn't have an over-inflated(read over-priced) opinion of his product. Just my opinion.

youve talked to me. and to be honest, they sell those cigars enough that they make a good profit. Im ok to spend 20-30 on a centurian, titan, or beast.... i usually dont but i wouldnt be mad at it.

RP NOT over priced? really? OWR $9 for not that good of a flavor and burn issues. vintage 90 $7-$9 and it isnt anything special. for about half that price i can have a nub. $10 for an I-press. nothing too special about the tobacco... just pressed a bunch. iduno.... vanity is part of the cigar world. ive been getting my gurkhas for about 4-5 a stick. comperable to RP, and i think they have more complexity to them as well.
Come on kuzi taste is subjective we can't have a fair fight over that.
Also the fact that you can find a cigar with a $30 retail price for $4-5 fairly easily says a lot about the cigar.
We can go back and forth on subjective things like which is the best value but the fact is how can they claim to be the Rolls-Royce of cigars and proclaim these high qualities when they don't actually do anything with the cigar.
Taste is subjective. It's like arguing about wine with someone. Maybe my palate hasnt developed fully yet but me thinks RP is a helluva swelluva stogie. I also enjoy Gurkha and think they are just as swell. Granted i wouldnt go so far as to call them the "Rolls Royce", not because i've sampled the whole line and found them to be inferior to one brand or another, but because i havent sampled every cigar out there to make that call(but i'm givin' it my best damn try LOL). One mans Rolls Royce is another mans 4 door sedan. We like what we like and go on from there.
