Read some stuff that said it's better for your lawn and soil to have your grass a little longer over the winter, and not do a final mow. Don't have to tell me twice.
A beet I let grow until yesterday, just to see how big it would get. For reference, I would normally harvest these beets when they are no bigger than those leaves on the ground in the picture.

I will try this in the spring, probably with some apples as an ethylene source. The article is sparse on the procedure and timing. A further search might turn up more definitive information.
My other's request for a Christmas present is a greenhouse. We have a 20 ft south facing wall on our garden shed and I will build it out from there. I'll post how it goes.
If you need free glass check with sliding door companies, they have no use for double pane glass that has lost it's seal. A little fogging in the late summer is a good thing. I used to have to spray my greenhouse with thin white lime paint to prevent sun scalding when things heated up.
Planted a second crop of lettuce. Planted short sugar snap peas behind the rows of garlic that i set last fall, they are doing great, a big Thank You, Rodger, @First_Warrior for the garlic bomb! Feels good to work the soil again.
Our garlic is doing well also Edward. Got a flat of chard and a flat of lettuce started indoors. Oak leaves are the size of squirrels ears right now. Trees are coming into flower.
Turned all our raised beds and repaired a few corners on them too.
We have some lettuce, sweet basil, mint, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers and onions going now. Good luck and a prosperous yield with all the gardens out there.
Transplanted okra, summer and winter squash, arugula, butter crunch lettuce, cucumbers, and eggplant. Four kinds of tomatoes going in tomorrow as well as four kinds of basil. Hot here in the low eighties and dry. Sure could use some rain. The branches and creeks are dropping. Will have to rely on our well to water the garden. We are getting sugar snaps, chard and lettuce. Our garlic is ready to come out. Will also start another flat of chard, basil, and lettuce. Cilantro, dill, thyme, parsley, rosemary, mint and oregano are also producing. Fresh spices and vegetables are worth the labor.
The deer have pretty much got everything in our garden except the tomatoes and peppers. Our herbs are doing great in the raised beds and we have a ton of pears again this year.

Planted sugar snaps, radishes and mustard. Will transplant chard and lettuce when it rains next.

A good cigar and whiskey solve most problems.
We have tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers, sweet corn, basil, oregano and rosemary.
Direct seeded pole beans and started another flat of lettuce.
Our garden inside a deer fence. My studio in the background.
I finally got mine planted today. I’ve got jalapeños, rosemary and some other hot pepper I can’t remember, plus whatever the kiddos wanted.

I had to build a six foot fence around the garden to keep them critters out.
Garden is coming along nicely. Here’s a few pics.

Looks like you need some deer and woodchucks.

Nice harvest, Rodger. I'm harvesting the scapes tomorrow to use with roasted chicken.
Those scapes are a great flavoring element.
Trade you whatever, for some garlic?

Harvested new potatoes, garlic scapes, and arugula for tonights chicken roast.
